Surely the profit will get thrown back into a future transfer - with amortisation of a huge incoming this deal could pay a year or two of that alone.

I wonder if also the emergence of Palmer as a legit false 9 option plays into this happening now as well. I don't look at this as a major weakening of the squad because to be honest if it is between Torres and Palmer as an option I'd rather see Palmer anyway. Maybe Torres is better at the moment but the potential of Palmer is a way higher ceiling.

People just can’t seem to understand that we do business differently. When Torres came to us we boxed him off and his club couldn’t sell him to the highest bidder. We prioritize our credibility with agents and can’t ask them to do this on the way in and then make it impossible to exit. We keep players who are happy to be here

Certainly wouldn't be any Grealish cameos there.

Don't make it out that Palmer has taken the minutes Torres would have gotten because he's done nothing of the sort.
