How about £55m??
If we sign a Striker next month then fine. If we don’t then Barca should wait. IMHO we might need Torres this season and I don’t think he would have downed tools if we asked him to wait 6 months and he collected a PL/CL medal.

Its not the price it’s the timing.

The Palmer replacement talk is too idealistic. We need, need, need a centre forward. There's only too long Pep (as brilliant as he is) will get away with these false 9 experiments. I sound like a broken record, but Haaland is the final component of us becoming an unstoppable machine.

On Torres; good luck to him. The way he started the season, I believed he was going to become our brightest of stars. But several circumstances conspired and it wasn't to be. He'll do great in Spain.
what people mean is palmer will replace torres in the squad and a striker will replace aguero.

Who knows what goes on though? As far fetched as it seems the clubs may have agreed to this now on the promise they don’t go for Haaland. Like I said, this is how the big clubs do business. We are long gone from negotiating a million pound for Jamie Bollock.

That's a very good deal.

I like Torres and have defended him against criticisms, but he's about our 5th choice at RW and about our 3rd choice at 9/false 9. Getting 50m for a fringe player like him, who wants to leave at that, is excellent. We'll reinvest the money, let's hope wisely.

No doubt Barca will insert a ridiculous £500m release clause in his contract!

I think it's a brilliant bit of business, we're doing fine without him and he wasn't always first name on the team sheet.

Throw in the fact we got a profit of 30m on a player in 12 months and 55m to put towards a fee if we decide to pursue a player in January then I think we've played a blinder.

And I'll just leave this here and that is the Bundesliga has started it's winter break now, next games start up again on January 7th. A certain centre forward has a release clause that can be activated in January doesn't he?

Just saying ;)

The notion that his release clause starts in January has been pretty much confirmed as pure fantasy, the so called evidence out of madrid, turned out to be the pure horseshit most expected it to be.

Shame, really liked him but looks like homesickness has got the better of him after long covid then breaking his foot.
Decent if not outstanding business. He’s worth more but nobody else would probably pay more, if that makes sense.
Quietly, it also seems to be quite the little endorsement of Cole Palmer’s development as well
Of course we still need a ruthless striker. Preferably one who can head the ball
