Feyenoord (H) | CL | Post Match Thread

We're looking for answers here, mate. Players don't suddenly switch off when subs are made. We collapsed when the subs were made. You don't magically lose form in 5 minutes.

The subs that would have made better sense would have been to sub Gvardiol off for Simpson-Pusey. And then move Ake out to the left where he normally plays. And then play a straight back 4. No one goes up. The Gundo for KDB sub also didn't make sense to me since KDB doesn't play the 6 spot. That means that either McAtee has to play back or Nunes had to. Or Rico or Akanji needed to move up. It was a circus in the back the last 15 minutes. The subs made it so.
I don’t disagree mate, but that’s on the manager for not changing the system and for telling the players where to go. If we shut up shop after we concede it doesn’t happen.

Yet somehow, that's exactly what we did.

Guessing Pep is thinking of fitness status and risk of injury. Ake not long back and had a few injuries of late. 3-0 up nothing wrong with taking him off at that stage.

All the game needed was Joso Gvardiol and Ederson not to completely implode, but that's what happened.

Came in and put tv on after two medical emergencies today, one for me and one for the missus, both doing better now thanks. Saw that City were 3-0 up and said right, we can have a nice relaxing evening at home now.

And on the subject of the subs, it was not the time to be putting Macatee and Simpson Pusey on the pitch, when we’ve got such fragile confidence. Certainly not when we’ve got Walker, Dias and Savinho available.

Get the game won.

That said, I’m also staggered that once we conceded Pep didn’t get Dias or Walker in the pitch to batten down the hatches.
Walker - batten down the hatches? Did you see him at the weekend?

Just home from the game. Gvardiol needs saving from himself at the moment. Salah could destroy him and Sunday and mentally that could be a long way back. Was worrying how quickly his head dropped after his first clanger that gifted them their first. He then obviously was poor for the second, but for me Ederson was equally culpable there too. Don't like digging out individuals but I'm sorry Grealish for £100m gets worse all the time. One plus for me was Phil. Looked at bit more at it today. This season looks like it's gonna ne a slog, so time to dig in.

It is easy to forget that the treble winning season was pretty much a write off at this point.

I'm not sure we were quite this bad but you are right. I remember thinking we'd be lucky if we won one trophy and made the top four we were underperforming so badly. The difference is this team are all two years older and certainly without Rodri we don't have it in us to put a fifteen game winning run together. After Sunday it will probably be too late anyway. We'll be eleven points behind Liverpool and we aren't making that up. Obviously I pray I am eating these words in a few weeks but sadly I don't think I will.
