Feyenoord (H) | CL | Post Match Thread

Played well for most of the game. Still very concerning how easily Feyenoord regularly got into attacking positions. Thought Nunes was excellent going forward. Pep's substitutions were probably necessary from a tiredness aspect and should have been fine. A couple of shit decisions from Gvardiol and Ederson cost us a win.
I don’t think they offered much until 70 mins. Nunes, Phil, Gundo all looked good. Jack not quite at it but getting there. Rico played very well. Erling had a good game.

Manu wasn’t good and also Bernardo.

You can’t legislate for the mistakes by Eddie and Josko.

You have to laugh really, this is the City us FOC,s grew up with, difference being we have a glimmer of hope it will be weeks/months before we come good.

As for scousers at weekend it could go either way, get battered or we batter them (i know it seems unlikely) neither would surprise me.

His last season he was given chances but was hugely underwhelming.

He would now walk into this team but his progress at Chelsea is off the scale, I am sure everyone involved was surprised how it's turned out including Palmer.

We have far more issues than worrying about losing and making a mistake on one young player.
Palmer, Lavia, Delap and Porro were never really given much of a chance.

Southampton, Brentford and Fulham. We won all three but I stood there gobsmacked as these three bang average sides totally outplayed us for large portions of the game. At times we couldn't get the ball.
But at least Brentford and Fulham had shown some form before they played us at the Etihad.

Southampton came to us after getting 1 (one) point in 8 games and we struggled to beat them by a single goal that was scored after just 5 minutes. For the other hour and a half of that match we were pathetic.

I said it at the time that we were going to lose more than we won on that showing, even I am shocked at how bad we have actually become.

I find the FoCs are the biggest whingers when things aren't going well

The latter would surprise me a great deal. Even the great side of Kompany/Toure/Silva and Aguero couldn’t manage it there.

Excuse me? There’s a team called MANCHESTER CITY and they can stop anyone.
Support the team get behind them don’t let the negativity take over PLEASE :-)

Remember my mantra and stick it to all the visitors to BlueMoon:

MANCHESTER CITY THE BEST TEAM IN THE LAND AND ALL THE WORLD.

@jimharri I apologise for the caps but can you please bear with me for a little while while we weather this storm? :-) Thank you. :-) ;-)
I admire your faith Eccles and I am not ever giving up on my team.

However the fact is we are utterly crap at this moment in time.

In the summer I read some saying they'd be happy to see youth get its chance even if it meant a season where we weren't as competitive.

Reading the the threads it seems they aren't!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wasn't a fan. Winning is never a given.

Wasn't really bothered when Palmer was sold. He looked good in the youth but £42m seemed like a good price. He has developed into an absolute baller. Probably the best number 10 in the league at the moment.

Hang on weren’t we the champions of the WORLD five minutes ago? After all the success over the last decade we have to roll with this, support the team and see it through. Am as pissed off as anyone but we all stick together and support our team. Even if it does feel like the bad old days of the 80s and 90s.
Stick with the club always but it’s hard to watch such spineless performances with nobody on the pitch standing up and taking control. When we were shit we had People who bled blue and would try their hearts out on limited ability. This team looks like it’s run out of legs and silly mistakes are creeping in and costing us dearly

Complete lack of leadership from experienced players last night
Agreed, I could see it from my spot in SS3 and said the same thing to those around me against Spurs.

There's no leader on the pitch. No-one is vocal, trying to calm things down or lift heads when they've gone down. Bernie was captain last night and as much as we all love him, he wasn't talking to anyone, dictating anything or taking control of the game. "Leadership by example" in terms of running about a lot is not what is needed right now.

At one point after Kev came on he was actually pointing to where he wanted other players to be and trying to get them to MOVE.

I don't have the answer or names at hand, but I'd be going to market and making moves to sign a veteran defender or midfielder on a short-term basis (12/18 months) who has been there, done it all, has some swagger about them and isn't afraid to disrupt the dressing room from day one to lift this bunch out of their current funk. I know the age of the squad is an issue but a shot in the arm is needed as this lot are just feeling sorry for themselves at the moment.

I'd also supplement that with an energetic pair of legs in the middle, we've been linked with plenty and I'm hopeful that will happen in January.

Getting to January and picking up our form between now and then is critical. But once we get there, the refresh of this squad needs to start.

It looked like other clubs saw their potential and took a punt. Coupled with them not getting the opportunities, you can see why they moved. Bit of a shame, but we need to reinforce with no compromises on quality.

Shhhhh don’t tell everybody. We will return. We will prevail. Shhhhh we don’t want the sneaky visitors from RAWK and whatever comic the team from the wrong end of the East Lancs inhabit thinking we are not playing to our best form. :-) :-)
So we “fake it until we make it”.
Although personally I’m not faking it. I know we will bounce back. :-)
I trust in the backbone of this team. :-)
