Seems to me that's correct - in that list there are 17 foreign players by my reckoning and as far as I understand it we can only name 16 foreigners in 21 man squad for CL and 17 foreign players in 25 man squad for PL.

Foreigners: Cabellero, Kompany, Demichellis, Mangala, Zabaleta, Sagna, Kolarov, Yaya, Fernando, Fernandinho, Nasri, Silva, Navas, Aguero, Jovetic, Dzeko, Negredo

Homegrown: Hart, Clichy, Lampard, Milner ....

Does Nastasic still qualify as B-List for the CL?

Difficult to see which foreigner will be left out of CL squad ... Can't see that any of them would be no less than seriously p*ssed off at the thought!!

Maybe City have still got a surprise in the transfer pipeline ... One more foreigner out from that list and another HG player in .... Seems unlikely though ...
We'll have 21 registered for the CL because you forgot Boyata who is needed as club trained.

Yes, there's one too many non-homegrown for the CL and yes Nastasic counts as U21 so is on the B list. We could take the chance and include Wright as the 2nd goalie however we'd still have to lose 1 out of that entire 22 man squad. The hilarious thing about that is that Boyata would be the first name on the squad list.
it is an irony that once Nastasic emerges from the B list next season (when we will have the full complement of 18 places ) he will be a foreign trained player again. By that time I suppose Demichelis will have moved on and provided Garcia goes to Zenit we'll be able to accommodate all our current players in the CL squad including Negredo.
I can see Yaya moving on next summer too.

For the first half of the season it may be Negredo who is left out due to his injury. What happens in January is another matter but if another player is out with a lengthy injury (please God, no) then Negredo will take that player's place. That's the only way I can see it working without causing someone's ego to be injured.

If Managala signs and successfully settles into the team by January then, barring injuries, I think Demichellis will be the one to make way. Kompany, Managala & Nastasic, plus Sagna as emergency cover, should suffice at centre back. Once Lampard goes we will not be able to cut one of the midfield players and I think we'll want 4 strikers in the later stages, particularly given Aguero and Jovetic's injury records.

And if Rekik comes back after another loan deal will he still count as HG ??

If our big game formation is to play Fernando as an ultra defensive midfielder at the base of a midfield 3, then we need to be able to replace him with a like for like player when he's unavailable. We shouldn't revert back to Fernandhino playing deeper. For me the signing of Fernando means that we need to keep Garcia.
I could not disagree more strongly. Not going to happen. Not squad has two destroyers.

If we had a back up for everyone this forum proposed we'd be naming 4 players in every position. I'll be reading us needing a backup to Cabellero and Hart next.

So with Mangala done and Garcia on his way out, still one more person has to be cut from the CL squad. So who is it going to be?

Hazard guess, Demichelis.
Won't be MDM (would be delighted if it was Hazard though!). If VK or EM are out, we would be dangerously thin at CB. More likely in the first half of the season to omit Negredo while he is injured and likely to miss a number of games. With three other strikers we should be able to cope. One other thing. We might as well just name a 20 man squad because if we are to field Boyata then we might as well kiss goodbye to the trophy.

The most at risk are

1) Cabellero
2) Negredo
3) MDM

Goalkeeper, as long as Hart stays fit, play him in CL with Cabellero playing prem league following. Promote under 21 keeper as backup. Chances 4 or 5 out of 10

Negredo, Injured and out till October at least but that is when CL kicks in, pretty strong re strikers provided no other injuries could we get away with just three, we did last year and although got out of groups we might need the firepower in later rounds
Chances 2 or 3 out of 10.

MDM - Last year of contract probably wouldn't mind the rest and no travelling, currently we have five other centre backs one of whom homegrown i.e Boyata, and with Rekik under 21 could provide enough cover. Mangala by October should be up and running. VChances 7 or 8 out 10.

My preference

1) MDM
2) Cabellero
3) Negredo.
