ChicagoBlue said:Note, in my FIRST LINE, I prefaced that comments by saying "SOME" people. If you saw yourself as one of the people I was addressing, that is not my fault.
As to the cogent points you made, which I excerpted above, I have NEVER said that anyone who is nervous about the future or frustrated by some of the things they see on occasion is a rag, a numpty or anything else derogatory. I feel those exact same things on occasion! I have LIVED "Typical City," so I am constantly waiting for the bottom to fall out! However, I am seeing, and I quoted, mounting evidence that we are putting that monicker to bed...hopefully FOREVER!
And, I object to any notion that someone who has "only" been a City fan for the last year or twenty years "knows fook all!" For all I know, you could be the most intelligent, tactics savvy, football fan to ever grace the Etihad or Maine Road. I don't know you, which is why I PURPOSELY did not PERSONALIZE my comments to anyone. I PURPOSELY said "SOME" because there ARE SOME.
I want City fans to realize that we are on the cusp of greatness that has eluded us, even in the halcyon days of black and white TV, and that the nervous energy associated with being on the cusp can be better channeled towards our team than endless threads denigrating players, screaming garbage about them from the highest hill, or coming on this Forum (which is quoted in the media as representing City fans' feelings) to do it is not what is needed.
Yes, we ALL feel the pressure of having such a great season to this point, but having nothing to show for it yet. We ALL feel the pain of losing to United at our place, even with only 10 men. We ALL feel the pain of fighting back to a winning position at Anfield and giving it up to a Bellamy goal.
However, NONE of that speaks to the issues I raised about SOME PEOPLE being so fickle as to open the floodgates of derision towards a team that has taken us to some of the highest heights most of us have ever seen.
Now is the time for strength, fortitude, resolve and unity. THAT is my message, in the face of derision from SOME who appear to have forgotten where we were in 1998-99.

Just an amazing post, you should be a politician, hahaha. Back track, much?
Read your OP again, you may open the article, supposedly aiming your words at small group of people, but right about the point where you say...
And, for those of you who have only been a City fan for a few years, because you have only seen onwards and upwards:
...The tone changes, and that's where I got a little righteously indignant, because then you WERE talking to me. Because I have "only" been a fan for a fraction of what you have. I did whine about Liverpool over two legs. I do sing "We'll score when we want." You basically said I'm acting like a rag, there's really no two ways about it.
So while I agree with all the points you've made in your latest post, I disapprove with the way you've chopped up my response-post to suit your needs, make my comments look unreasonable, and then backtrack covertly. If you wanna retract something, just say, I won't bite your head off, but I'm not stupid either so there's no use pulling the wool. Like you and others have said; this is great thread (I'm loving some the childhood memories people are putting.) There's no need to ruin it just to "win" the argument.
