FIFA Women's World Cup 2023

Honestly, that’s fine with me if that happens.

They’ll give it to United for finishing in the top four otherwise. ;-)
Yeah, tbh it was a bit of a throwaway post. I’m not really fussed either way. It’s been a long time since Sports personality of the year was ‘appointment to view’ tv, and I don’t have high expectations of it.

I bet Gabby Logan is getting cheesed off with Alex whatchamacallit. Gabby asks Ellen White a question up pops Alex. Then Alex takes over as if she is the lead person. She’s driving me mad. I want to hear Ellen as well as her!!!
Alex isn’t needed at all. The other 3 are fine.

Jesus wept, you've proved me right by quoting me. I didn't say I didn't like womens football, I said the quality of this competition has not been great. Which it hasn't. Its meant to be the biggest advert for the game, its been pushed massively by the media and advertisers but the quality hasn't matched the build up and hype. That's it.

Just fucking watch it and love it like you're supposed to do :)

Depends on what you've seen to be honest. Some of the matches have been excellent, some haven't. That's how tournaments go though.

I've enjoyed watching Japan, Sweden, Spain and the Netherlands. England and Australia a bit less, but here we are.

I think in about the last 4 Mens World Cups there's been a point where we've all gone "actually a lot of these matches are a bit shit". There's no reason for this to be any different to that, I'm not sure why people expect it to be.

Because you are comparing it to the mens game i guess
Not just that but City which is probably the problem (though I’m not sure it’s a problem as I’m still enjoying it) I’m having.

To watch live football I have to be up at 3am for evening matches so whilst I’ve not missed a City game in 11 years, it’s not as often that I’ll watch 5 or 6 games in a weekend and thus the one or two matches I watch per week (live - rather than MOTD etc), City are one of the teams playing. One of the top two or three technical sides in the history of the club game so to go from watching that to the women’s World Cup is probably why it looks so different comparatively.

But unlike 1988 (from the sounds of it), I am enjoying the spectacle for what it is and I’m desperately hoping we win. I still jumped up and down when we scored.

I’ve always said international football was shit tbh.

Are City women more entertaining to watch out of interest?

Tell me where I said I didn't like womens football you anus? I said the quality in this particular competition hasn't been great. This is the thread to discuss that competition
For heaven’s sake, the men’s WC gets a slating when that’s on. Do what I do, embrace each competition for what it is, be it men’s WC, women’s WC, men’s cycling, women’s cycling, anything. Get on board, enjoy the ride, no pun intended, sport is brilliant, I wish I was 20 odd again, fit and well enough to run around like they do but I’m not so I sit and watch and love it, no matter what:)
