FIFA Women's World Cup 2023

Jeez that's another Haitian pen that's converted into a corner. What abysmal reffing.

Ooooh, looks like the Haiti manager has been booked for moaning about the shitty reffing.

Thirteen mins of added!
Not that I'd ever think any FIFA product is dodgy but who stands to bring more money in for the tournament sponsors? A nation of over one hundred thousand million people, where many in the cities have some disposable income to buy products or a nation of almost twelve million where probably the majority are just trying to survive day to day?

The Irish lass from Arsenal who scored from the corner is reported as 'heartbroken' at the Republic's elimination. Was there another outcome she had envisaged?

There are some truly woeful footballing sides at the World Cup, as there are some woeful footballing sides that come to The Academy, as indeed there are some woeful men's footballing side, but what is clearly at odds is the hype that surrounds the women's game. What is described and reported on is distinctly at odds with what is seen as the game unfolds.

I have watched a fair amount of women's football and too many televised games do not grab your attention. It becomes very easy to 'do summat else' and use the game as you would a music station on the radio - have it on in the background.
The media are too scared to call it as it really is. The standard is diabolical and the male pundits must be fucking stupid if they think we believe them especially Ian Wright, purely job preservation

4 stonewall penalties and only 1 given.

No idea what VAR were looking at. Should be 2-2.
It's when you see with yer own eyes what the 'collisions' entailed, and then gasp when the ref is informing us after the 'VAR check' that it isn't a penalty, yer can only think that 'the preferred result' still reigns supreme in some of these games.

She does just talk and talk, and sometimes things make no sense at all.
Fara Williams in the studio also joins in the mangling of idioms "I was off my feet whenever James got the ball" - what does that mean?!

Ellen White is far better than I thought she might be - fairly clear, not overly wordy.
They all come across as a bit shit-scared and trying too hard, with anxiety transmitting to the viewer.

Which is a shame because they seem like good people just trying to earn a living like most of us.

Hopefully confidence will improve with experience.

Maybe, but Brown-Finnis and Emma Hayes have been doing it for a while now, and I'd have expected that someone may have had a word with them by now.
