FIFA World Cup Corruption Fiasco

What were they thinking using an American for this? I expect he has had a few knocks on his door from the Feds recently. Let's hope it brings them all down.

FBI will be all over this. You start to watch them drag the big yank sponsors in.

Never understood why the Western European clubs are so quick to bend over and take it up the arse from FIFA. Let's look at the power relationship here. Between England, Spain, France, Italy and Germany, the clubs own the contracts of almost all of the best players at the World Cup, and are well within their rights to prevent their players from playing there, legally speaking. I've never understood why they don't just threaten, in cooperation with their respective FAs, to refuse to release players for FIFA's tournaments until they make the whole thing transparent and get rid of that corrupt **** Blatter. Because what are FIFA really? A corporation who owns the intellectual property for the World Cup. That's it. But it's quite hard to use it without the players. The Formula One teams did it. I don't see why the football clubs don't. But then I guess they couldn't give a shit about the state of world football either, because most of them have been doing their best to fuck it up in the search for more profits.

The only way it will change is when people stop watching it.... and that wont happen.
There will never be a breakaway organisation and there will always be corruption.

Good piece from Marcotti

No one seems to give a fuck apart from us, and as they don't appear to come under any jurisdiction, then nobody else is likely to either.

This immediately jumped out at me "no subpoena powers." So someone involved in corruption could just decide (and sounds like a bunch of them did) they didn't fancy giving evidence.

Between this and the insane Fifa world cup demands for Brazil I wonder just how dark this gets in a world with no accountability.

The trustworthy folk who choose the World Cup hosts (shamelessly stolen from Sporting Inteeligence's twitter page):

Will be interesting if Israel qualify for 2022.

They're that bad and corrupt it is now laughable. Everyone knows they're bent and they would be better of just coming clean and starting fresh. The truth will come out in the end.
That's as maybe but they don't give a fuck. They're bomb proof.

Dyke making an arse of himself
