Filip Stevanovic

I get the model of signing young promising kids in terms of making a few quid etc and hopefully one will end up good enough for the first team but how many top targets have we missed out on for the sake of £5-10m when we’re happy making signings like this...

The squad clearly needs significant investment for a LB and a Striker in the next 6mths and hope we pay what it takes to secure our first choice targets

Hmmm, after looking into this player a bit more,he does seem a special talent, and perhaps one that will buck the trend of being sent out to one of our feeder clubs.
It also appears he was the subject of much interest, including the Rags who thought he was in the bag.......

Obligatory ;-)

Not bothered about the age of those we sign, but I want us to sign players who ARE good enough to play for us, when you consider players like Mahrez, Gundogan, Mendy etc ARE good enough, then there are literally 1000s around Europe who are good enough to do so, what I want is us to buy THEM instead of wasting our time on someone who is never going to play for the club, what a pointless signing that would be, getting players who are never going to play, don't see many clubs around the world adopting that stupid policy
There are quite a few teams that do it. Chelsea is one. The Rags do it. Real Madrid. Barca is another and was likely one of the first.

The two Brazilians we have signed also look as if they have something about them.

Hopefully we are raising the level of signings or have new scouts.

They were brought in and immediately loaned out, as was mentioned with the other players.

Steffen was definitely signed with a view to hopefully playing for City & that was the impression given with Zinchenko at the time, that the idea was he was trialing for City, similar to the Brazilian fullback we have just brought in.

Most of the CFG signings seem to be purely made to be moved around from one club to another.

I don't understand why they couldn't all be higher quality in general, so we can go to clubs like Girona occasionally & sign a player for our squad, rather than mostly sending them players who can't get in ours.

Unal had interviews all over the City website, including one where he was talking about being a lifelong fan from a City supporting family... yet I would doubt the club was doing anything other than looking to sell on, as you say it is the usual strategy. I think with Steffen it's more a case of the right circumstances have fallen into place and that has brought his stock up with us a bit, but was that all that intentional?

Zinch is an exception to the rule, I do believe and agree with you that he was bought for *our* XI.

I think it has to be intentional. We needed a keeper & he was it.

Unal I think, was actually brought in as a potential City player & looked the part but lost his way for whatever reason. He was very impressive & I think would have nicked a few goals for City.

When Steffan came in we had Ederson, Bravo and Muric. And he was arguably coming in behind all of them at the time. We then loaned Steffan out and loaned Carson in. He wasn't looking to be anywhere near the team. Circumstances changed, and he has managed to gain a small role, which he might hold down for a bit?

We brought him in, imo, to replace Bravo. But had to wait for Bravo's contract to run down.

We had to have a keeper in place & he was it. Carson is a mascot.

Why do you think that? We bought him for 2m from a club that no one’s ever heard of then loaned him out. I don’t think we even announced his transfer.

MUEN saying we have agreed a deal for him

6m

Likely to say where he is until summer or if he does come in January then it will be straight out on loan to one of our sister clubs

No doubt propping up Girona again.

Girona just puzzles me, it feels like its a favour to Pep's brother than part of any real strategy like the other CFG clubs.

There's been zero benefit to City from Girona so far.

We did announce him and the buzz was different than the CFG players. Except maybe Unal “the lifelong City fan”.

Carson may be a “mascot” but the point was Steffen was loaned OUT and Carson loaned IN. If you’re loaned out and a mascot is loaned in, you’re not high up the pecking order at that time.
