Zinchenko and Steffen? both in the squad just a couple days ago. Not saying they are fantastic but got good value out of Zinchenko and Steffen seems a solid no2.
Zinchenko, Eric Garcia, Foden, Brahim Diaz have 5 league games or more lately from the acadamy/CFG.

Zack Steffen was buyed at last season, he is now 25.

Indeed they do.

But out of the number of players signed for the City group of clubs, you would expect that by now, at least one of them would have made it to our bench.

It's quite an achievement to have scouted so many players from all around the world, non of whom are any good.
We seem to set aside about £20m a season to play the world football stock market with fruity CFG signings that have ‘potential’.

This guy might prove to be an exception, but thus far it’s been a pretty underwhelming go of things.

We’ll maybe never know the terms Sancho wanted, but if we’d have invested in our top youth players with minutes in games to get them on board we’d maybe now be sat on an asset in Sancho worth more than double what we’ve made with all the these bitty players... plus we’d have probably have recouped more selling our other academy youngsters than we have thus far... and with this in mind, we’d probably not have burned £60m on Mahrez too.

They were signed for clubs in the City football group ?
I don't think many expected Zinchenko to come in and be part of the first team squad, pretty much unknown from a russian team and then spent two seasons out on loan in Holland. Following a very similar path to other people. Steffen perhaps was always expected to come back but again, we signed him and loaned him and its only really because of circumstances around Bravo that he has come back otherwise I think he would have been sold.

Sancho was always talented and perhaps would have always made it as good as he is now but he wasn't going to be in the first team every week at City no matter what. Giving him game time in the carabao etc like we did with Foden initially was never going to be enough imo. Dortmund was the best thing for him to do.

Do you think Foden has been treated that bit different to others by Pep,by that i mean do you think he has gone out of his way to ensure he wasn't overlooked? while others might not have been afforded the same pathway?

Do you think Pep will show such faith again with the talents that are currently banging at the door? or are we likely to see them do a 'Sancho' as they will not receive the encouragement?

Difficult one that. I think Pep has looked after Foden a bit more than others. I think that is testament to Fodens ability, attitude but also his links to the club which we all know Pep rates very highly. Everything I have read has told me the club went out of its way to showcase Foden to Pep, so its always been in his mind since he arrived. Foden isn't in the squad just as a token fan though, the lad is one of the best in the world at his age.

I think Pep will show more faith in some youngsters than others, the likes of Doyle for example will have a higher chance of making it here than say Nmecha, thats not to say that Pep is going to just look after someone because he has City royalty in his blood and he runs a lot but those weigh heavily in Doyles favor, he can play as well. I know there are a few on here that believe that Pep has a "spanish agenda" and is pushing Garcia and Bernarbe etc ahead of others but I disagree with that.

In terms of doing a "Sancho", I think we can say that perhaps we have seen that with Matondo leaving and maybe Braaf will do the same, we can argue all day about whether that is the clubs fuck up by not playing them etc but we don't know the full story. Whereas I see the likes of Palmer, Doyle and Delap sticking around and really pushing themselves before just upping and leaving because its a "trendy" thing to do and go play in Germany e.g. Matondo, Sancho, Reiss Nelson and so forth.

I agree entirely, although i have no idea what he see's in Bernabe...... thanks for the reply.

Yeah Bernabe is a difficult one, seems to just be a copy of Denis Suarez when he was here. He hasn't kicked on, seemingly no club wants to loan him and we are I think paying him a fair whack to basically be in and around the first team squad. He is definitely not a LB though and that really did shock me when Pep put him there.

Its comical,he cant defend to save his life.....utterly bizarre thinking.

I'm not even sure what his strengths are or where he would be best deployed,he doesn't even stand out amongst his peers and yet he gets to be promoted to the first team.

That is where the Nationality thing might have legs.

Definitely, Im not sure about that hah and I love a good conspiracy. I don't think hes going to be round much longer, a sale with % clause like Suarez I think.

It’s the precedents though that sowed the seed with Sancho as much as trying to buy Sanchez and then getting Mahrez. Denayer, Barker etc. should all have been given minutes when they were in peak form/ verbally offered routes to the first team. It wouldn’t have derailed us to have included them in squads and brought these on when we were coasting in a game.

It does look like we’re seeing some of the young players break through, but even now we should have Delap on the bench because he is a centre forward and all ours are injured. Tonight’s youth match showed that his all round game isn’t quite there but he did what centre forwards do and kept running in the gaps and got his goal. That instinct is something other players that play in other positions don’t have. In his only appearances he scored in one game and hit the bar in the other. What more can he do?

Maybe in the end Delap won’t make it with us. But by using him when we need him and exposing him to first team football it moves the needle so we don’t sell for £1.5m like Adarabioyo but maybe for £10m, even allowing for how bad we are at negotiating sale fees. Then we don’t need to play the football stock market so much and can strategically invest in our first team (like buy a left back).

I think deals like this are good for us very cheap, might turn out to be special or sell on make a few million, whats not to like about either.

Fuckin hell we must have millions in the kitty for transfers, how much have we made on selling young players

wasn’t the amount of players out on loan something the rags and dippers were trying to limit with their piss poor effort at reforming football. City and Chelsea make a healthy income from large youth systems and selling players on if they don’t meet the grade, another way they look to try stop us.
