can someone please explain how AS Monaco with a stadium capacity of only 18500 can spunk the amount of money they are spending this summer and how so called FFP book will not be thrown at them !!

Only this.

Their lawyers have clearly told them not to worry about FFP - by the time they hit the CL it will be irrelevant.

Re: Financial Fair Play will not affect us.

Monaco can only be good for us and financial fair play, let other owners drive a stagecoach through the ffp, then we dont look as bad,it will prove an even greater restriction of trade if an even smaller supported club, are not allowed to finance their development, all things equal clubs have to spend considerable amounts to catch up,where other such clubs have had it all there own way for so long.
FFP is a protection mechanism for europes bigger more established clubs,if we can see that surely the European courts will see this too.

Well Platini doesn't seem to understand it so what chance has any bugger else got? Judge or not.

One interesting thing I heard a UEFA bod say was that they assumed PSG's lawyers would be able to make a case for their spending. Seems everyone just has to 'make a case' at the moment as UEFA is starting to flounder.

By the way how can one owner at City, several at Arsenal and one at Chelsea NOT be allowed to invest, whilst 160,000 at Barcelona and 100,000 at Valencia are all allowed to chuck in a fiver?

That's legal?

Re: Financial Fair Play will not affect us.

Its going nowhere, this FFP scheme. You can just tell.

Re: Financial Fair Play will not affect us.

They haven't even addressed the different accounting standards in each country, so they can't even measure teams the same way. As written, FFP completely unenforceable. The much bigger restraint on our spending will be the overriding cultural desire to look like prudent men. The last major spending push (Yaya, Boateng, Silva, Kolarov, Balotelli, Dzeko) was necessary to get the team to CL level quickly and take advantage of United and Arsenal being in conservative modes. There could be a good argument to make one more spending push to set the new manager up for success and make the owners look smart for making the change.

Crazy isn't it

It's like someone with a huge amount of money wanting to take on the likes of Asda and Tescos, but being told he can't use his own money to fund it because its against the rules.
