Not having a great deal of financial knowledge and not being prepared to take risk I buy premium bonds and have seen more return than I would have in the bank, obviously you may get nothing other than your own money back.

If you have any debts that are charging you interest get them paid first.
After that get someone to sort you out with a balanced portfolio of investments.
If you can try to incorporate some SE Asian investment (Vietnam and Cambodia-they're well undervalued).
