Fined £260,000 for Villa pitch invasion.

Aha, hadn’t thought of that.

I can't believe that people are even discussing caging fans in or deploying what are tank obstacles after what happened in hillsborough.

It doesn't matter if some fans are bastards who can't or wont do as they are told, we should never be putting fans at risk to protect the players/crossbars/pitch.

Anyone who thinks 9320 wouldnt happen again is in for a surprise. Its human nature when it comes to groups of people and emotions running so high. They would need fences to stop that imo.

I couldn’t give a flying fuck how many people invade the pitch but I don’t think a single person did when he actually scored the goal did they?

The ones at Wembley are ok although slightly too ‘deep’. I wouldn’t mind them although don’t really want anything there. :-) But that’s just me being selfish. Sorry. :-)

I wouldn't think those at Wembley would stop you if you were intent on getting on .

The problem is eventually it will be other clubs fans invading the pitch, getting involved with our players, and then people will think differently.

The players union is pushing this, at the requests of the players, as they are concerned for their members and sadly after recent events its understandable.

I’m not saying it can’t be wrong because it’s happened plenty of times before but I’ve not seen any “recent events” that haven’t sporadically happened the whole time I’ve been watching football.

I was only responding to what you wrote ‘which was I dont give a flying fuck how many people invaded the pitch’.

I do get your wider point these things have happened before but I suppose with media coverage, the number of incidents in a short period of time, and an increase in anti-social behaviour at matches its being taken more seriously.

How many of the people supporting pitch invasions and snapped cross bars will be moaning when their season card goes up by another tenner next year?

The pitch invasions aren’t a very big deal to me and people know they might be looking at bans as a punishment.

It’s not a tradition in the rest of the Europe including many countries where football fans are arguably more passionate
