Fined £260,000 for Villa pitch invasion.

Morons are those sanitising the game

Was anyone hurt, no.

Do not join the two. Those celebrating and those out for a quick pound

We should ask why this is all of a sudden a big deal.

Their goalie could have been hurt: goal posts were vandalised. Its a big deal because it is now illegal

Club will double down on this in future now...not sure how though
Every seat is now covered by CCTV, every seat has a supporters name on it. It'd take a bit of time but I bet they could identify the seat every person who got on the pitch came from. With the new rules you get a letter telling you that you've lost your season ticket and got a one year banning order.

Since they brought the exclusion in not seen anyone running on for a selfie or a shirt, deterrents work, sometimes.

Big Brother has been watching you for years....

I didn't say they were. But I'm not wrong either. One incident cost third parties millions, the other didn't. Why wouldn't you fine the club whose incident cost millions to sponsors and partners?

We have field/court invasions in US sports at the university level pretty regularly, mostly when big upsets happen. So I'm kind of desensitized to it. Sure, it's probably foolish. But a fine of this size? Dumb.
The difference is that they weren’t fans with tickets to attend the event.

They were illegally trespassing inside the stadium and some got banged up for it.

Yeah. I kinda see both sides of this. Our pitch invasions are almost exclusively celebratory where opposition players aren’t ever targeted, but having had a few players and managers assaulted recently, the powers that be need to show a robust stance for their protection.

What won’t happen is this stopping it happening the next time we win the league on the last day at home.

Who knows what the punishment will be by then!

Anyone doing it from now should be life ban. That should be the punishment along with a trip to the courts , it is a criminal offence.
If fans do not want to represent the club at games, so be it.

All those who invaded the pitch just need to cough up £50 a piece and the committee members at The FA can look forward to 5* comfort with fine dining whenever England have a match. Bastards. What is the point of a rule over which the club has no control, other than arming the stewards with cattle prods?

Agreed - it is almost impossible to prevent thousands of fans getting on the pitch with the current design of the stadium. Let's just hope it doesn't result in fencing and ditches thus removing some seats at the front

We should get Liverpool on the case; after all, they easily identified the fan who threw the flare at that disabled Chelsea kid.

Oh, wait.

Most are kids. Let them have fun I say.

Love it watching them celebrate and getting involved from the 3rd tier

My lad was on the pitch, waved to him as he and his mates took it in.

£200k, fuck it, these moments are priceless
Sums up the problem really
