I had forgotten he was playing he's been totally anonymous.

It’s his lack of positional awareness and defensive workrate that saw him struggle to get minutes.

He is obviously a gifted attacker, no one can reasonably argue otherwise, but his defensive shortcomings would have been a big issue for our setup and are actually a bigger problem for Chelsea than most recognise (it’s just their gung-ho approach to attacking cover the cracks).

I thought Carsley got off to a decent start in the first few games. Even now, at least I can see what he's trying to do, even though it's not been particularly effective and we seem to have forgotten how to defend. Still, I'd rather watch this than Southgate's England (not saying much).

I think the problem is that I am just fundamentally unable to enjoy international football.
