It was the year we won 1-0 Phillips scored. Think you had a temporary stands up. I was behind the goal in your end with the SAFC fans to the left of me. There were about 20 SAFC fans right down at the front in your end who celebrated when we scored and were promptly taken into the away end. The Man City fans near me were throwing coins at the SAFC fans as they were taken out. As I wasn't throwing coins or displaying any sign of aggression towards the SAFC fans a couple cottoned on that I wasn't a Man City fan.

You had me going for a second I believed every word of this post up untill I read the last part..... Absolute dog shit your talking there, because you didn't join in with the tomfoolery they instantly knew you weren't a blue??? Bollocks! There's been many times at City games I've had a moan at lads singing munich chant's yes some have responded agressively but none have gone "fuck off Munich" and instantly accused me of being some other fan....

P.S. I was once sat in your home end, not too long ago, and a few cottoned on and cornered me down stairs at half time. Right or wrong? I was just watching the match? Idiots everywhere, lads.

In the home end against Sunderland or for another match? How did our fans "cotton on" to you being a Mackem, too? There are several North East accents amongst the group I have a pint with before the match and they're Blues. If you were genuinely at City just to watch a match then you would normally be made welcome. Sit in the wrong end and you've only got yourself to blame.

Many years ago we had a saying round our way. It was chinny reckon, but we said the second word like reck-on.

As a Newcastle fan who's always had a lot of time for City, this thread is genuinely sad.
Unfortunately, we have an increasing number of younger fans who act like complete tw*ts away from home - a source of ever greater embarrassment to the majority.
Don't agree with the crack on here about us having delusions of grandeur or a superfan complex. Remember, it was 21 years before Tueart did us with the overhead kick that we won anything domestically, and the one-club city thing overlooks the fact that much of our catchment area is equidistant with Sunderland - and both cities have a tiny fraction of the population of Greater Manchester or Merseyside.
But then I also don't agree with the City bashing that seems to go on now from our fans and others. You have always brought big numbers to SJP and I've felt we've always shared that loyalty in adversity thing. I hope you go on to win the league by a street from the true glory hunters (remember being at OT with less than 30,000 there in the late 80s).
Again, apologies for the tosser with the firework and the youth element, but don't write us all off.

Not a bad thread and Vimto is a cracking drink. I'm sure everyone on here recognises the minority are the issue. Also... Mackems are friendlier. ;)

I think you'll find it's the sports direct arena.......

I think people's perceptions of "delusional" Newcastle fans was partly based on seeing people on TV gathered outside SJP at various times having raised expectations and making all sorts of weird and wonderful predictions as to what they might win or who they should appoint in the wake of a managerial departure, the reality probably being that Newcastle fans in general are a lot more grounded than that. I'll admit this contributed in part to any dislike I may have had for Newcastle in the past, along with a couple of incidents that I witnessed at close hand - one at Maine Road and one in Newcastle a few years later. However, my stance has softened since you were relegated a couple of years ago and it seems that expectations across the board amongst your supporters are now more sensible even though you've had a fantastic start to the season.

The firework incident wasn't clever but it was one idiot out of 1700 and to tar everyone with same brush is ridiculous.

MOD NOTE

I have removed a few posts that made reference to someone's account on some social network, even it it was correct (which I doubt) this is not the place for posting things like that
