First game disappointments

My first game was Aston Villa, H, 23/01/1988 in the old 2nd Division, Trevor Morley's debut. Exciting to see City in the flesh and our brand new striker. We lost and Morley shot straight at the keeper when through on goal. Gutted but we lost to a decent Villa team.
Anyone had a more disappointing first game?

It's a long time ago, but my first game was (IIRC) a charity shield game against Burnley at Maine Road back in the early seventies. And yes; I'm pretty sure we lost!

Thanks for that BBS. Just look at that team; how the fuck did we manage to lose to bloody Burnley? ''Typical City'', I suppose!

City 1 Shrewsbury Town 3. 1-0 up at half time through a Paul Lake penalty, we crumbled in the second half. I didn't need a fucking citizen card to get on the Kippax that day.
The stewards were probably out on Claremont Road (one of my former addresses!) grabbing passers by and throwing them into the ground!

My very 1st City Game travelling from Edinburgh

barnsley-v-manchester-city-26-march-1988.. got beat 3-1

Saying that my 1st Derby Match made up for it

Very true. But look at that forward line; Summerbee, Bell, Lee, Law and Marsh. That was the equivalent back then of what we have now.
