First job,first wage.

May 75... Apprentice Body Builder (Commercial Vehicles). O.25p / hour. £10 per week.

2001, £85 a week for 40 hours, motor vehicle engineering apprenticeship. I learned a lot of life skills.

1987 working for a bank in London.

£5100 a year with a London Allowance of £3000 a year. Digs with breakie provided for £50 a month and meal at night £1. Compared with my mates back home who were mostly YTS on £35 a week, I was loaded.

Had I stayed I'd probably be a millionaire now just like Del Boy.

Had some fun watching City with the London Branch of the supporters club. Used to be run by someone called Tina from memory. Good crack with some of the lads from that branch.

Only stayed 2 years but it was a good life experience and good money for an 18 year old at the time.

YTS mechanic 15 year old in 1985 at British vitafoam £24 a week, led to an apprenticeship but binned it off 3 years later to become a bus driver on £170 a week felt like I'd won the pools

Worked on the weekends at a place on the side of the Rochdale canal for a company that did something with tea chests.
I used to knock the brass edging off the tea chests for 50p a day.

My first job was being a shoplifter at Woolworths from aged 8-12.
I thoroughly enjoyed it and found the position quite rewarding.

My Father found out and immediately had me resign my post as a shoplifter (Pogs and Footy Stickers were my main choice)
He had me delivering the Free newspaper in the area, which I wasn't paid directly for but my father implied I was doing this to cover for my expenses such as food and keep (lol)

I then had a weekend job as a kid which was helping my father operate his mobile disco business.
So I'd cart about the lighting equipment, help set it up and so on.

From 16 I was registered self employed, advertising locally fixing pcs /laptops and so on.

£1.50 an hour at Mickey Ds. Terrible job sometimes but great fun at the same time. Taxi home after a late shift but they would only get one taxi for four people so would end up doing a tour of the places around Alty before we headed for the blessed land of Sharston.
