Fixtures 2019/20 - West Ham (a), Spurs (h), Bournemouth (a)

Random fixtures my arse. Sky / BT will ask for a weekend where coincidentally the two of the Manchester, North London, Merseyside derbies are played if not all three, City to be away first and last game of the season and Norwich away over Xmas with limited transport. They will then cause havoc with the fixtures by changing Newcastle away at Bournemouth to a Monday night, Newcastle away to Norwich on a Friday night and moving our games to give us the least amount of recovery time before CL games and we will all roll over and have our tummies tickled
Im sure i read somewhere that there are certain groups of fixtures that cant be on the first game of the season (city v united, lpool v united etc). Also like you say, groups of local derbys always fall on the same weekend and normally just before xmas a certain blackbuster set of fixtures always seems to occur. Random my arse.

Not sure how “random” they are now but a true story is that 25 years or so a work colleague of mine was getting married mid season. He was a Burnley fan and he knew the guy who did the fixtures. He asked him to sort it and sure enough on his honeymoon they had something like Plymouth and Exeter away - neither of which he wanted to go to. Can’t see it being that easy now

I'm expecting the random fixture generating programme to throw up Liverpool v City last week in April.

First game against them will definitely be near a CL fixture in the fall and then yeah I think you're bang on about the second, although the league may know that looks obvious and put it in early April instead.

I just want the last game to be at home. In the last four seasons we've finished the league away from the Etihad every time and only had a home game to open the season once in that time. We're due.
