Florian Wirtz

So it’s only a matter of time before he ends up there, and the only question left is whether it’s 2025 or 2026? So we’re out or what?

Sounds like it. Deffo seems Bayern bound. Bayern executives have started tapping him up in the press as they usually do, and they also withdrew Kimmichs contract extension offer worth €20m+ a year. I doubt we sign an AM this summer with KDB extending, Echverri joining, Marmoush having already joined and Bobb returning from injury. Priority should be two new CMs IMO as well as a RB and GK

We should go after Musiala then….surely they can’t afford both of them

There is always aspects to all moves and this who is the biggest, as if there is hierarchy and every player goes in that order.

We jumped to the front of Haaland q, partly I believe because he had grew up watching the prem and always dreamt of winning it.

It is easy to see Wirtz wanting to stay in the German league he has probably watched for years and grew up dreaming of playing in it.

Always going to be tough, but you fight, we play our strengths both with him and the club. If it doesn’t happen we move on, but he’s one worth the effort even if not in pole position.

they are letting some high earners go at the end of the season. sane, kimmich and müller are all on around 20mio and contracts ending in 2025.
Genuine sad to see how Sane turned out.

I know he has been allright for them but he should have been so much more, and for us

Bayern withdrawing the €20m+ a year extension for Kimmich leaving them with loads of cash available, Bayern executives starting to tap him up in the media, and now reports of us extending Kev. Safe to say this isn’t happening
Agree we will still sign a great player but not this level. Has been fine for us over the years when missing out on the most in demand players.

Also think it frees up cash for Baleba if we really want to do that.

Bitten us on the arse this season though. About time we flexed our financial muscle and showed Bayern and Real and Arsenal that it’s City who have the biggest bollocks.

True.

Although we will clear it I wonder how much 115 has had to do with it. Not just players not wanting to join, I don’t think thats ever been a thing, but how the top guys are having to operate on a daily basis.

The 115 is as much as a smear campaign as trying to convict us.

Financial muscle only means so much if the player doesn't want to come here. I haven't really seen any indication Wirtz is interested in coming here.

The power tends to be with players now, the amount for him will be 120+, but if we went over the top at 150 it wouldn’t really change anything.

We’d be better offering the 120+ and using the additional 30 million in an extra package to the player.

However, all clubs will pay him very, very well and if we’re having to really go over the top on wages to get him, it’s probably not the best sign.

We have a great offering, but as do Munich, Real and unfortunately Liverpool ATM.

We have recent success, Pep, De Bruyne heir (maybe learning from him for a season).

We just have to do our best and hope it’s enough.

No chance Wirtz will be clashing with Musiala at Bayern for no.1 spot and with Bellingham at Madrid. He will be our player, direct heir to KDB and an instant no.1 choice.

I'm less worried if Wirtz ends up at Bayern. If he ends up at Madrid, I struggle to see how we would close the gap anytime soon. I don't think Wirtz at Bayern hurts us as much.

I think we can keep the red tops in England at bay. We generate more revenue than Bayern. Madrid is the only team I really worry about.

Good point, I do think we need to keep an eye on Madrid soon for players to buy.

Whilst never a club I would normally want to buy from, all these shiny new toys they have to have each season at young ages are going to cause them issues.

It strikes me as when they brought Ronaldo and Kaka, so Robben and Snejder left (both incredible players in their prime).

You bring up an interesting topic. Would we do business with Madrid?

Obviously, Madrid has more talent right now than us so would they want to help us catch up to them by selling us a player....by the same token.... would we want to put 70 80 90 million into Madrid's coffers and potentially put them in position to buy more and widen the gap. My gut feeling is I don't think we will see much business between City and Madrid in the near term, but I could be wrong.
