Florian Wirtz

Big possibility. Wirtz 's father has been talking to Bayern for ages and then there is Real Madrid. Possibly Alonso's next home. The price would be around 120/130. City won't stump it immediately.
Erling Haaland says
Was going to Madrid/Barca/Bayern and others apparently .. ‘Ickle Siddy couldn’t possible get him’

We forget how strong a pull we are sometimes:
- Enormous financial clout (for club and player)
- dominant team in World’s biggest league for most of adult life of all our main targets
- one of best 2 teams in Europe the last 10 years
- worlds best coach TM
- Worlds best facilities (or Top 3 at least)

Just refuse to believe this. We can be ‘all in’ as much as we want - I’m all in on the idea of shagging Margot Robbie - but it means fuck all unless the player wants to join us.

I’d like to hope we’ve had some sort of promising signs from him/his camp if we do go ahead and put time into it but then I don’t know what Viana’s MO is. Txiki got into the stage of wasting time on players who weren’t going to come. I hope Viana doesn’t.

If he doesn’t want to come (or just prefers Bayern/Madrid) then move on. The position and Kev-shaped void is too important to waste time on.

Although, I hope we recognise the importance and offer to pay a larger fee/larger upfront figure than Bayern and/or Real which I don’t think will be difficult given their supposed transfer pride.

Wirtz has zero connections to city my guy. He is a German through and through.

Given our success, our fanbase is peculiarly negative when it comes to whom we may sign. I have no idea whether we will sign Wirtz or Tom Cobbly and all, but we are in the mix for the world's very best players. We have the money, and have been one of Europe's elite for more than a decade.
Is this guy any good? Not seen any links

Joking aside know no what you mean

We have Viana and Bergy working in tandem

Need the next Yahya and D Silva

More chance City stump up than Bayern or Real; think they’d both want him next summer when they can low ball the fee. Not saying we will get him but this summer is our chance, it’s an outside bet but worth the gamble.

It is very peculiar. We have a very negative fanbase. The grass is always greener.

This is my concern, we'll spend all summer chasing a player that doesnt want to come and then get either no replacement for de bruyne or a substandard one

Which is exactly why we must stump up the cash straight up. None of this haggling over 10-20m bullshit like Txiki always does. We have to be very quick and very aggressive this summer. We have too many holes in the team to fill. No time for messing around.

have you read the nico thread everyone saying over paid why did we pay so he;d come no matter what same with marmoush over paying wages for him

No point concerning ourselves about a player of this calibre until the 115/130 is confirmed as being out of the way, then we can start to get giddy. If all goes to plan I expect us to finally start blowing clubs out of the arena.

But the club just spent 200m before knowing the result

As well as the 9.5 years renewal to Haaland

If we are in the champions league next season and 115 concludes “well” then we have a slim chance of getting this done given Bayer are mean to move him outside Germany and Bayern don’t appear kean to get him this season. No CL then this or other elite level players doesn’t happen.

Exactly. No established elite player would look at City as his preferred destination until we are formally cleared of all charges.

In the case of Wirtz vs City it sounds like a part of the same old transfer fantasy tales. ( I seem to recall Tolmie saying that we had not shown interest in him.)

Yet Erling committed nearly ten years,
and we have just bought some serious talents.

I think we have to let it go - none of us have any idea whom we may sign.

Top class Germans seem to either stay in Germany or go to Spain. Be surprised if we get him.
ballack went to chelsea =)

I see us as an outsider for sure though and would say the chances are very slim of getting him. wirtz probably stays another year and then makes a choice between bayern and madrid.

Champions League certainly helps but i don't think you can say 100% absolutely that elite players won't move to clubs without champions league football. There are plenty examples of where it's happened, including to us.
