Florian Wirtz

Liverpool’s cycle could end as soon as Salah, Van Dijk & Alisson leave/retire. Arsenal are 3 points better off than us at our worst in a decade.

This season has been a massive disappointment, but we haven’t been the best, most consistent English team in the past 12 years by accident. We just need to be smart with a few signings and hope players like Doku & Savinho improve in front of goal and we’ll be right back at the top.
I think they have signed 2 year deals & I wouldn't be surprised if Liverpool/ both players look to cash in with one final lucrative Saudi deal next summer - Liverpool get 2 "over the odds" transfer fees for older players (1 year left on contracts & save huge wages) & both players get a huge final salary, win:win for both with Liverpool having a extra funds for incoming transfers & associated wages/costs

Wirtz has the same amount of assists as Jacob Murphy this season. 1 more than Elanga and Morgan Rogers.

He's a very good player, but if we're looking for a KDB replacement we're never going to find one.

People need to stop making out his numbers are out of this world, like I say he's a good player. Let's not blow our load for him
Irrelevant stat, because he's ten times the player Jacob Murphy is. Makes me laugh when people use these equivalencies.

I’ll take the incoming hate, but I think Maguire would’ve been class for us and I’ll die on that hill.

And Pogba and Sanchez. All three are brilliant footballers who went into a shit storm of a club in a transition they’re still not out of.

I’d have loved Pogba under Pep especially. But Maguire and Sanchez would’ve been mint too.

The club thinking it can afford to spend €140 million on players like Reis, Khusanov, Nico, all who struggle to even get minutes in the team (and reportedly are willing to spend 75m or so on MGW), but at the same time can not afford to spend a similar amount on a player like Wirtz pretty much says it all about how the squad has become such a mess. Of course we cant afford the top players, we need the money to buy lots of mediocre ones instead.

I'm on about the fact that we probably won't take your advice and instead sign a bunch of utterly unremarkable players from crap Premier League teams.

Not meant to be taken seriously.
My point still stands that getting the right players regardless of how they play for doesn't matter if it makes the system works (again look at PSG in the way they play)

Stats dont tell the full story... they never do

He is an absolute world class creative midfielder that we are losing out on cause we are not prepared to pay the money when we have wasted money on the likes of Grealish, Phillips, Nunes and are about to waste more money and MGW who may hve better numbers but wont even come close ot ever being world class.....The same was said about Grealish before we bought him...he is going to beworld class - he is nowhere fucking near and neither is MGW and never will be - good yes, work hard yes...run lots yes....but is he a potential world class player - not again close.

Our midfield recruitment has been abysmal.

Phillips - 50 million
Nunes - 62 million
Gundo - on a free
Gonzalez - 50 million still young

The planning for the future of our midfield when Gundo is done and Kev has left is appalling.

Now we want to replace Kev with Gibbs bludy White. English midfielder that is a level below to what our midfield is normally.

Gibbs White is a good player. But to replace a legend and the best midfielder to ever play in the prem is ludicrous.

When Liverpool are signing world beaters we are signing average and mediocre.

Buy mediocre you stay mediocre. Our recruitment in midfield since Rodri has been abysmal. It showed this season

I don't get it. Pep was a class midfielder and has coached some of the very best midfielders in the world at each of his three clubs. He's gone from Xavi, Iniesta, Busquets, Yaya, Mascherano, Fabregas, Kroos, Vidal, Lahm, Xabi Alonso, Thiago, David Silva, Kevin de Bruyne, Fernandinho, Rodri, Gundogan and Bernardo Silva, to looking at the likes of Matheus Nunes and Kalvin Phillips and thinking "give me some of that."

It's a massive oversimplification and it's obviously not all on him but standards have dropped significantly across the board.

He doesn't want to join us. Stop talking about the money FFS.

Jesus. "World class" after two decent seasons. Mental our fans. Foden "crap" after an average season but a player that doesn't play for us is "world class" after two decent ones.

If it aint about the money then someone has done a very poor job of convincing him...whether thats about the vision the club has for him and how he plays, where the club is going etc....and that is even worse!

Gundo starting more games next season...not good and he will still be here.
Bernardo running on fumes again - not good
Foden doesnt recover - even worse.
Doku and Dav still failing to step up - notgood
Marmoush - how does he fit in when Haaland is properly fit.
What if Oscar Bobb doesnt reach the heights we all hope and think he can - a very big possibility

When people use facts? Haha what makes me laugh is you offering an opinion that he's "ten times" any player. You've given an opinion, I've given facts
Chris Wood has more league goals this season than Vini Jnr. Who is the better player? Your post implied Jacob Murphy is a better player than Florian Wirtz, which is bollocks. Stats can be manipulated to suit any narrative, and are meaningless in these kind of equivalances.

Who the fuck signed off 50 mill for Phillips, 50 mill Gonzalez and 62 mill Nunes? It’s complete madness.

I agree with that but Fabian Ruiz was a quality player at a high level for years before he joined PSG, Vitinha has been PSG's best player for at least two years but nobody paid attention until this CL run and Joao Neves was one of the most sought after midfielders in world football last summer.

These weren't nobodies. They were already quality talents who were still shrewd signings and compliment each other perfectly.

We have the opportunity to put ourselves back on the right track with Reijnders but we have wasted years signing expensive shite from PL teams.

we’ve missed on a whole host of players that would turn out to be bulkets dodged - Koulibaly, Pogba, Sanchez, Fred, Cucurella
Happy to report i opposed most.... Was on board for Pogba though :(

My worst take potentially.
