Florian Wirtz

We allowed Alexis Sanchez to transfer to United, and it wasn't a disaster.
Apples to Oranges.

1) We badly need a replacement to KDB. Sanchez in or not at the time wasn't nearly so important;
2) Manchester United were (at the time of the Sanchez transfer) and are a joke. ManU is the death-bed of talent and there's no need to fear ManU as a competitor.

You cannot possibly the believe the nonsense PR from the club last week that he was too expensive despite us knowing how much he was going to cost for about 6 months and the on looking likely probability that he is going to sign for Liverpool for around £85m + add ons.

He doesn't want us. He rejected us and we moved on.

By multiple top sources we were prepared to pay what Leverkusen wanted and give him a salary he wanted.

Money wasn't an issue. His desire to come was.
I repeat...
Source?

I don’t know how to read it but Wirtz is not Arsenal Sanchez level or even Barcelona Sanchez level. Sanchez just chose the wrong move. I am sure he would’ve be good for us too
Completely disagree.

This comparison is of course skewed by numerous factors including that Sanchez and Wirtz do not play the same position... but hopefully, you get the idea.

Public knowledge about this transfer - nil.
Posting about this transfer - huge.
Conclusion...
Wrong!

Public knowledge about this transfer is nearly universal among football fans.
What's in question is whether Wirtz is seriously considering the P/L as his next destination; who knows? Maybe Wirtz is going to Bayern no matter what and everything else is just an attempt to extract a better deal from Bayern. And maybe Wirtz is open to playing in the P/L, and Liverpool now have an offer that is both attractive to Wirtz and that meets Leverkuzen's demands. And if this is the case... IMO we need to match/exceed Liverpool's offer.

If we allow Wirtz to transfer to Liverpool, it's a disaster.

IMO we should match the current Liverpool offer to club and player and point out to Wirtz that at City, Wirtz, assuming that his form continues. is going to start in mid unless injured or unless it's not an important game.

It's not too late to reopen the bid for Wirtz - and also, IMO, this time Pep needs to make a personal appeal.
I think your going a bit OTT saying it will be a disaster if Wirtz moves to the dippers, not unless you can see into the future nobody knows how it will work out yet, we have our own issues and one player doesn’t fix that.

Applying this illogic... It's "a bit OTT saying it will be a disaster"... if X "unless you can see into the future" ... then nothing whatsoever is a disaster.

The best we can do is predict the future from what we know now... and on that basis... Wirtz to Liverpool, if we could have him in our squad only if we matched the current Liverpool offer - is a HUGE FUCKING DISASTER!!!

We may have already gone down this exact path. We don’t really know.

Knowledge is nil.
Speculation is rife.
Posting based on speculation is not knowledge.

"Only wants liverpool". Why does fabrizio keep harping on that.
It’s all talk. How would they know this information?

It’s like a couple weeks ago he only wanted Bayern.

Could he possibly be negotiating a contract with another club and these reports are to help him get a better deal?

Let’s see how it plays out…

The consensus is that it is a PR exercise to mitigate the fact Wirtz has apparently chosen the Dippers.
As I stated - I don’t know if we have matched or even exceeded the Dippers offer. He may have chosen them for reasons other than financial.
Makes sense if the consensus is correct.

Unless Wirtz has some ties to/reason to prefer Liverpool to us, though, the consensus opinion seems suspect. If I were Wirtz I'd be concerned about:
1) Playing in the C/L next year; and
2) Pending charges against City

#1 is solved - we've qualified for the C/L
#2 who knows? - maybe that's the issue

No one knows the future. Ergo, any post about future outcomes, is speculative... based on assumptions. One may judge the likelihood of such predictions, but that's orthogonal to knowledge. As is your post in the context of this thread.
