Florian Wirtz

So what?

Again if you want to comment on Grealish there is a thread for him somewhere.

And cut the "he's worth it" shit out you don't know how his PL career is going to pan out. You sound like a half and halfer.
He will be worth it if he helps them win so important trophies like say KDB did for us. Needs at least four years to make a judgement imo.

Many many ifs in that and the same can be said for any player really, the scouse have had a lot of players that are the second coming and they are still lagging behind.

IMHO the scouse being as dominant as us is a way off considering that by the time and if Wirtz gets into his stride their backbone will be collecting a pension.

The time to judge a player is at the end of their career rather than the beginning or at least at the end of the career with a club. I remember a headline "Is Rashford already better than Messi?" before the young genius was 18 years old! And Garnacho's last minute winner against Fulham was conclusive proof that he was football's next superstar. Who would make such judgements now! For Liverpool it's rather different because the media are not prone to such ludicrous evaluations of their players but some of the BBC articles on Wirtz do seem to be leading that way. I don't doubt he's a very good player but he has to have an impact over the years that satisfies the club that his transfer fee was worth every penny but also that his impact has helped turn second places into first. That's not going to be easy. I think VVD can claim to have had something of that kind of impact, but Nunes, who cost £100 m (£85 m + add ons) has never reached anything like that level, has been booed by the fans and spent the last games of the season on the bench).

The contrast with KdB is obvious. The opinion of the pundits was that he was worth nothing like what we had paid for him. Phil Thompson was scathing and Savage wouldn't even pay to go and watch him! They may not have actually believed such rubbish but more fool them. In ten years at the club Kevin suffered several serious injuries but became one of the true greats of English football and helped himself and the club to countless trophies. Can Wirtz do that for Liverpool? And to be fair, can any of our new lads do anything at all like that? They have cost nowhere near as much as Wirtz (or KdB!) but City are undergoing a genuine rebuild and Pep and the board do not intend to come second. City aim to remain right at the top of the English game and our new lads must help keep us there.

The media have made out they don’t spend money since the 90s. Houlier and Benitez spent a fortune and won the shit treble and one lucky CL.

They were the first team in the PL era to spend £1bn and not win the league.

They’re hypocrites. They only have (relative) success today because the Moores bought it for them back in the day. If it wasn’t for that money they would still be in the lower leagues.
When we won the league way back when they were in the second division breaking transfer records thanks to they’re rich owner.
They’re everything they accuse us of and more.

They are the epitome of a plastic club. None of their success is organic, it’s all been purchased.

I hope he flops for them.
That £1bn spent to not to win the league covers any club in any era until utd and Chelsea emulated them.

I thought you were being serious till this part.

The BBC, before he has kicked a PL ball, have labelled him 'stratospheric'!
What? No "This is the PL! He won't find it as easy here" rambling nonsense that Pep (and others) had on their arrival? I'm so shocked! :)

But then I imagine he won't be getting fucked over by the PGMOL stooges every match for a full season in order to make their point, will he.

Red cards for anybody who even attempts to tackle the Rhineland Ronaldo is my prediction.

Two matches where Rico stays on the bench!

The same press that I keep hearing say the Liverpool is breaking the EPL transfer record? You are hearing what you want to hear.
It looks like you're reading the argument you want to read, more like. The devil is in the detail. That quote I gave, was from Fabrizio Romano. So be honest with yourself: If they had the same quote to work with for a City transfer, how do you think the majority of the UK MSM would be reporting the transfer cost?

Would we ever see comparisons like this from the BBC:

Did I not say they'd find a way to call it £100m? What a joke. IMO, there's only 1 other club that would get off this light in terms of the full cost and I think we all know which club. For us, £127m would be plastered everywhere.

It did start off as 'English transfer record signing' but you have to be blind not to see their tack changed rapidly. It's so obvious what they are doing; easing the pressure as best they can, a form of damage control if you like. They didn't even wait until the start of the season to start doing it, it started happening pretty soon after it was actually signed and he was on his way, rather than just agreed.

I don't know what all the fuss is about.

Wirtz will be playing for Bayern Munich before his contract expires with the dippers.

We've seen this movie before.

If Bayern want a player, his place in the national team suddenly becomes more elusive.

The only difference he'll experience playing for the dippers is that the British media won't be linking him with a move back to Germany every week.

Unlike when Haaland signed for MCFC. There were more links to him leaving City than there was traffic updates on drive time.

He won't even have to be out on time for the second half.
