Football Leaks/Der Spiegel articles

This is making a lot of noise.

From what I can see, absolutely nothing has changed.

UEFA understood their position when all this was actually happening and they attempted to take us on. They took a deal to keep some dignity.

Leaks won’t change a thing.

The Longbow stuff (although unsurprising in a commercial sense) is quite damaging for the club’s reputation IMHO

Football is corrupt to its core though
Not really. FFP was ranged against City and City were subject to investigation. Of course any organisation devises a response.

At the end of it all City were sanctioned. City's revenues have grown to £500m plus and any serious observer would concede that the vast majority is unquestionable. Maybe c.£80m max is related to the UAE. Nowehere in the media reports do you see the discussion put in a proper context. This is really poor. I think a lot of people in football may after a while realise that this is really nothing more than an empty vendetta

Didn’t realise that tolmie,it seemed to be not exactly apportioning any blame on city, unless I’ve picked it up wrong doh !

I read the article and to me it says basically, City tried to flout the rules at the time, UEFA slapped the wrist and a deal was reached between City and UEFA. No rules look like they were broken from what emails reuters have seen.

I wish people would stop posting his tweets on here. All he does is post shit about City because he knows he will get an reaction. He’s probably laughing his cock off at the amount of abuse that gets thrown at him by us.

Doubt he would risk laughing his cock off as it appears that it could be the only thing of his which functions - allegedly.

Interesting reading:

Man City’s arrangements for boosting income from sponsors and offloading some costs formed part of a programme termed ‘Project Longbow’ by executives, according to club presentations and emails between managers. It is unclear from the emails reviewed by Reuters whether Sheikh Mansour was aware of the arrangements. Nor do the documents show Man City had an intention to deceive UEFA or its investigators about the state of the club’s finances. And nor do documents reviewed by Reuters show UEFA or its control body accusing the club of deception. Full article below:

For me, THIS is a key factor....

Luca Enriques, Professor of Corporate Law at the University of Oxford, said that while a football club might be bound by UEFA’s rules, the club’s sponsors or business partners would not have any legal obligation to follow the governing body’s rules. “I don’t see how you can put third parties under the domain of football rules,” he said.

The other thing that is very, very difficult to gauge is how a third party values a business relationship and what premium they might be willing to pay to be a major sponsor of a rapidly growing business, including the goodwill associated with being an early sponsor. Indeed, if HRH wants to shower those sponsors with his largesse for them aiding in his development of CFG, who is UEFA to tell ANYONE that is not an allowed business practice. In fact, it is a prevalent business practice.

Ask Boeing what the price is for a 787 Dreamliner, then ask them who paid what for the first 100 orders that got the production line off and running and helped create the critical mass of orders needed to move forward! Or, talk to Airbus about what Emirates paid for their A380s, then ask what British Airways paid! This is BUSINESS! You scratch my back, and I’ll scratch yours, as long as we can all make a business case for it, even if that business case might look extreme! As Airbus how much PROFIT they have made on the A380 AFTER giving them away to Emirates! Legal??? BUSINESS!!!
