Football Leaks/Der Spiegel articles

Am I the only one who believes that if our owners were knowingly involved in financial dealings that were sure to breach FFP regulations they aren't that fucking stupid that they would leave a paper trail?

It's an embarrassing episode for the club who have been releasing pur financial results with great fanfare for the past few years - none of which would have been profitable without Mansour paying sponsorships.
If you mean the Etihad sponsorship is embarrassing in any way it's not, if you mean the Aarbar situation we still don't know enough about that yet(as @Prestwich_Blue demonstrated) and also we are talking £12m a year from an overall revenue that has increased to £500m over the years. With that in mind they can neither say our revenue growth doesn't warrant great fanfare or that profit would not have been possible as we could easily have spent less(those punts we take now and again because we can) or sold some players off if we wanted to show a profit. It's not really about showing profit for our club though, it seems to me for the meantime its about growing the revenue so we can afford to spend what we need to, to stick it to the elitists until we truly are ontop.

Even with the Etihad sponsorship, yes it was overvalued in the early stages, most blues will admit that but what a lot of people forget is from 2008 to 2011 the rules weren't even in place. Clubs like Chelsea got to complete their transition to a big player under complete freedom, as we should have been allowed but they tried to put the breaks on for City. The rules were agreed upon in principle in 2009 and came into effect in 2011-2012. What's clear is City are singled out whether they have done wrong or not... like the market inflating fees that get moaned about, Real Madrid or PSG start breaking transfer records on marque signings and they somehow link City into the conversation almost every time.

I’ve read The Guardian story. There’s not a lot of hand ringing there. Ok so we agreed a settlement big deal. The rules were changed to fail us anyway. How about why Utd can be like £5-600m in debt but pass FFP? Anyone would think there’s a Derby coming up?

Doesn't seem to be anything not already in the public domain.

We negotiated our own settlement after the initial £50m fine and probationary period, thereafter?

We also agreed not to increase certain Abu Dhabi related sponsors during this time.

Subsequently, we spent two years basically buying fodder like Rodwell, Garcia and Sinclair, to the detriment of defending our title.

My only concern is with the Premier League, as opposed to Uefa.

Dave Whelan is on record saying it only introduced their own version of FFP because United and some other clubs were worried about City.

I've no doubt Scudamore will be lobbied by a number of the clubs to try and fudge a justification for sanctioning against our revenue streams.

It sounds like City have evidence against PWC of wrongdoing or complicity in conjunction with UEFA.

It's clear we always held the leverage and we shouldn't really try to control the narrative now, as it has long been established by our competitors.

So if we ended up doing a Rangers and getting relegated 3 divisions, I’ve just checked the League 2 table and there’s currently 11 grounds I’ve not watched City on. On the downside, there’s no sign of York City.
