I think the bigger story now is not the allegations - other clubs e.g. Liverpool have faced similar charges for offering inducements to sign academy players - but the organisation of the newsflow. This is announced just on the eve of City's first major final. Pep is asked questions about this in his press conference (which is no problem, I would if I was a journalist) but how are these allegations surfacing? I'd be more interested in how this information is coming to light and who is organising it.

City know them without any doubt. Getting evidence for the court/investigation is a different matter.

As for the the timing, I think it's linked to the Chelsea transfer ban announcement, not to particular City game (we're playing twice a week after all).

What if it was a group of crooked agents who don’t like City’s stance, as one of the richest clubs in the world, to refuse to deal with them. Refuse to buy their players and play their shenanigans.

I think there is a high probability of this. Though it is more likely to be Bayern Munich or indeed Qatar.

Feels like something similar is being done on us.

For me this is the bigger angle. The smear.

I trust City have made changes to their communication to protect themselves in future. This is also an issue for FIFA, UEFA and football clubs in general.

A German club doesn’t need to pay. Tipping Der Spiegel off is payment in kind because the German public lap this sort of stuff up. Most of them despise Liepzig and they will see City in a similar mould.
