Football Manager 2012 - Official Thread - Demo Out Now

Just downloaded this and decided I was going to go for the pentagon challenge as I've played this game every release and felt I knew what I was doing but fuck me I'm in too deep! I got gold coast in Australia and won my first game 6-1 but I do need help on training and coaches, I'm just don't know how many I need or what stats I should go for etc and should I have other tactics set up and saved as at the mo I use City's formation of a 4-3-3 with 1 sitting and 1 attacking midfielder with a box 2 box one.

For anyone who has Pavon on their game and has no money he's a steal seemingly!!

Little update on the FM site I manage.
Me and this lad have got together to make a Podcast which should run every couple of weeks. Obviously this is the first one we have ever done but I've tried to emulate the Bluemoon podcast style so hopefully people enjoy it and it will become much better over the coming weeks (mainly my presenting).

Anyway here it is, would love some feedback: <a class="postlink" href="http://www.footballmanagerstory.com/2012/06/football-manager-stories-podcast-episode-one/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.footballmanagerstory.com/201 ... isode-one/</a>

Cheers lads

Bit of advice, if your playing on a tablet don't let the battery die mid game. My 6th place Everton was thrashing Ancelotti's 1st place Chelsea, battery died. Ok, have to play it over, should be no problem..... :/

Was winning by 4, had to settle for a goalless draw.

....someday, when Imup for it Ill tell you all about the heartless bastards at Willem II and How they repay 14 seasons of loyalty.

Just moved into January and things aren't going as well as previous. This recent run of form is worrying:

I've had a horrible, almost life changingly unbearable moment when I looked at myself in the mirror and realised that I am FM12's Mark Hughes. Obviously.

On a more positive note, I'm still picking up points so am in touching distance of the promotion places:

This charge for promotion is built on the bedrock of some solid defensive performances from Sekete and Xaba, my two CBs with Kurt The Kock turning in some half decent games in net.

You will notice the lack of strikers in form, and this seems to be my problem. Ndlela is my preferred choice but he's injured, David Radebe who was the original star man at the club is injured. This 4-4-1-1 is just not creating enough attacking opportunities and it needs some tweaking.

However, a foray into the transfer market is just not possible at the moment with an out of control wage bill already frustrating the board and putting us in real financial trouble:

Even though all of my high earners and the whole reserve team is for sale, I've had no bites. It seems the whole South African football economy is in bad shape and only having an attendance in the 250-400 range isn't helping when Dynamos and a few others in the league have attendances in the 5000+ range. They don't have me as manager though, so they aren't doing anything with it.

Goals for rest of the season:

  • Keep working hard defensively, building the team and tactic around Sekete
  • Train certain players in positions which suit them more. I'm playing Motumi as a ball winning MC but he's only listed as a DM. Same with my AMRC wingers, neither are comfortable in the MR role.
  • Reduce the enormous wage bill somehow.

I don't believe it. My main main Ndlela comes back from injury finally, and I'm a few points off of 2nd after a big 5-0 win, then this happens.

By Thor's Hammer, I will avenge this!

hahahahaha.

Lol. Footy Manager is a right harsh bastard sometimes, Got Aldershot into the Championship and was battling relegation, safe by a point come end of season somehow, change of chairman following takeover... Previous board said I was untouchable increasing clubs stature, and winning the JPT and League 1 last year...

New chairman sacks me saying club is underachieving.

The price of success. Cunts.

Where we last left off I was struggling for form, tactics and a training schedule. Went on a bad run, Stuart Pearce-esque you could say but most recently i've managed to turn things round, with a new tactic and training schedule. C.J Sapong my new signing kick started this form with 2 goals in 3 games however he then received some ankle ligament trouble which meant I had to call back Zack Schilawski who scored in three back to back games at the start of August and has had a hand in a few others.
This is how my current form looks, 3 wins in the last 4 games, the defeat coming with two late goals in Aguero time:

The tactic that has helped this current run of form:

The stats from the most recent NY Red Bulls game that show my domination, however we shot conversion is bloody awful:

This recent flourish of form has left me on the same points as top of the league, however the games played in this league is all over the place:
[bigimg]http://i292.photobucket.com/albums/mm9/G-2008-H/Pentagon%20Challenge%20FM12/NewEnglandLeagueTable20thAugust.png[/bigimg]
However I need to push on now in the last 7 games and try to rack up the highest points total out of both conferences to ensure an early Concacaf CL place early on. Without having to reach the playoff final.

EDIT: Images fixed.
