Football Union Threatens Legal Action

Would the players be prepared to take a reduction in wages in order to reduce the amount of games being played? Until they stop chasing ever bigger contracts the games will continue to pile up.

Why should they ? You are paying them for their ability not by the hour

Clubs will need bigger squads. Only way it can continue. Only a few clubs including City have the luxury of being able to have depth in their squad. Something will need to change with FFP to level the playing field somewhat, allowing clubs to rotate without compromising the quality of their team

The International calendar clashes too much, I know they have to get them in, but take this year, playing 2 qualifiers in June ffs, when you have a squad full of international players it has an affect, but I suppose we'd be shitter without them

Simple solution would be play the bulk of the qualifiers after the club season in the years between the tournaments.

However, now FiFA have decided on the new club world cup format this is impossible. I can't see the PL allowing the clubs that participate in it to have an extended PL break to recover.

Larger squad sizes is the only other solution that I can think of that would ease the burden.

I think I could cope. :-) So could most of us. Players play twice a week. Not every week. For the rest of the week they do light training for a couple of hours, gym training, massage, wind down, and relaxing before and after training. Then go home. They also get days off during the week to relax. What needs to be looked at in England is the outdated and historical congested festive fixtures. International friendlies like the one at the start of the season and throughout the season need to be looked at as well. In a normal season if a team isn’t successful players get nearly 9 weeks off in the Summer, after the end of the season and before the start of the new season.

No, not a chance
