I can’t understand why people who could do something about the likes of Bennell and Saville and countless others never did anything about this awful abuse and turned a blind eye to it all. They are just as guilty as the abusers.

I know this shouldn't be what I take from this program but I found Newcastle's response or lack of it disgusting. The other clubs have at least made statements, some at different ends of the spectrum (Crewe at one end, Manchester City at the other), but Newcastle's no comment just stank of Mike Ashley being an absolute pri*k.

It's hard to imagine but turned a blind eye they did, John Lydon (Rotten) and Noel Gallagher both reported the abuse that was going on at the BBC, nothing done.

I've posted about one of my teachers in the early 70's who was a paedo, we all knew what he was doing as did the teachers but no action taken. It was like "no way would these trusted people really abuse kids, must be made up".

Institutionalised racism existed as well, unless you lived through these times it's so difficult to understand how it was allowed.

Fucking huge carpet where every piece of shit was swept under. Obviously the kids being abused believed it was either the norm what was happening or they were just too scared to question it.

In my mind Michael Jackson is a **** as well but there's plenty who will defend him, staggering, he's as bad as the rest of the abusers, he just had the dosh to cover it up, suspicious suicide anyone?

Rot in hell these lot.

Agreed.

It was common knowledge about crewe etc on the kippax terrace in the late 80s.never sung about ..but everyone knew,esp those with any links to pro clubs by virtue of their own playing ability or simply aware of the experience of others/family members.

Bennel,as far as i know ,was never mentioned,but other far more high profile names were.regularly almost whispered, in disgust. Before the subject was dropped once more.

Id have to agree that it was known about at every level at every club...,and the media
