Footballs' Hardmen

One for the Wednesdayite on here - you've just reminded me of Kevin Pressman, I'm not sure how true it is but he apparently chased down a car thief who robbed his Merc and crashed it, and held onto him until the police arrived. And he was a big mother at the time. He also had a Millwall fan come onto the pitch and threaten to murder him and if the photos are anything to go by, he wasn't remotely arsed about it.

Ferguson got burgled TWICE. And the first time, he put them both in hospital. The second time, he got stabbed but managed to defend himself. The first case got in the Darwin Awards as an Honourable Mention.
Prompted me to include Arse's Kolasinac, fighting off potential carjackers. There's a video out there somewhere.

Strange you should mention Ian Ure.True story this,I took my missus to OT in the 1970`s as she`s a Rag and I saw Ure get sent off for going straight through the back of Malcolm Macdonald. One ugly and dirty fucker who was a real shit player and was the same at the Gooners.
Played for a brilliant Dundee side.
Won the first division and reached the semi finals of the European cup.
Loss of form did not happen until he signed for Arsenal.

Must agree, Gerry made the difference at the time and one of my all time favourite City players..... RIP sir
Gerry Gow gave us Backbone.Steel. he was just like Peter Reid.not afraid to put a foot in.He was the heartbeat of that old Bristol City team which got Ashton Gate rocking, back in the day..i would have been wounded,as a Bristol City fan ,if City had snapped him up...
Gow could have stayed at Bristol,he was already a legend....but i,m so glad he signed for City. Everything just changed when Gerry Gow started prowling around Maine road, centre midfield.Solid as a rock, nomore flakey City. It was an incredible transformation....from weak to Strong.

There are so many. And almost all have been mentioned here. Not sure that I saw Ron "Chopper" Harris though...?

But Italy in the 70's and early 80's had the likes of Claudio Gentile and Romeo Benetti. Absolute hatchet men who could really play but knew the dark arts so well. Gentile in particular absolutely hacked Maradona to death in '82. The stuff they got away with back then was unbelievable. Souness played his part in Serie A too back then.

A brilliant but brutal cup final.Still amazing to think he got away with it.

Notice no bastard put the ball out to let the medics on! Iirc Ron Harris lived up to his nickname and took Bremner out, in the penalty area, with a classic kung-fu kick to the chest in injury time, referee (Neil Midgley I think) just looked at him and waved 'play on'. Wouldn't like to quite go back to those times but the game has become incredibly soft these days.
