How long are people going to use the 'gel' excuse ?? They've had about 14 games together now (including cup games) and at least part of a pre-season....yet they still look disorganised and clueless at times.

That also is a piss poor argument....how long should we give them ? 3 more months ? A whole season ?
Getting beat is not the issue for me, it's how completely naive we look at times, not just in one game but in most of them.

Dunno. How long do you think it normally takes to build a championship winning team. 1 week? 2?

I would expect to see improvement over any given period of time.
Certainly not the regression we are witnessing.

So your telling me your ok with us drawing at home to Burnley and Fulham? Thats a top 4 mentality if I ever heard one

Against Fulham, it was disappointing to lose 2 goals whilst being 2 up, however they have beaten us at home the last 2 seasons running, so that, on paper is progression. Lets not foget also that Fulham are no mugs.

Burnley, well the defence was shocking, at best. We did though however make a good comeback and only end up drawing because the defence was shocking. I am sure that defensive problem is being worked on, and the break now will do us good to regroup and see what the score is. Another point on Burnley though is that like all the other teams who come to our patch, they will want to make us look stupid because of that money we spent, so it is quite different to compare it to the rest of their away results so far, in my view.

Again thought that is a poor counter arguement ad defense of our results in those two games....and only further highlights my point about us having a winning/ top4 mentality.

So what if Fulham beat us the last few seasons - we were still 2 up and cruising at home and to throw that away is shocking.

And as for Burnley....think they were more up for the Blackburn game if im honest and they want and try to win any game away so I doubt they try extra hard just because its City.

At the end of the day we should have won both games and our fans expected us too.

The simple truth is that if Bridge had headed that ball virtually anywhere but where he did, we would have won that game and be sitting fourth with half a chance of catching the rags in third. No one would have been moaning then (or at least not as many).

Even good teams go through bad spells. Liverpool would have won the title last season but they had that bad sequence of draws at home. Everyone is disappointed about the Fulham & Burnley results and we really shouldn't throw away leads against teams like that. But we did and that's that.

No one should be judging the manager over half a dozen games, particularly when we're still well in touch with the top 4. If we carry on sliding and are mid-table at Christmas then people ARE entitled to have a go. But let's wait and see guys.

Im not asking for that....Im asking for a unit that looks like they know how to play the game their getting paid 100k per week to play. Everyone expects that we all want a title winning team in our first season......we dont ! We just want players who look like their improving game after game, stay alert to the final whistle, and give 100% effort. Is that too much to ask ?

So having won the first 4 games of the season you expect us to continue that trend. Just because we had a good start doesn't mean we have gone massively backwards by not winning every game.

We're in a bad run of form. I'm confident that's all it is, a loss of the confidence and swagger we had at the start. It's very telling that despite this poor form we haven't lost despite being behind in 3 of the 5 drawn games. We're a tougher side than we have been in my lifetime (say a lot about how shit we've been).

People were fooled by the first four games into thinking top four would be a piece of piss. We've got some tough games coming up but I expect we'll improve our form and results will pick up again. There's no doubt we're a better side than we were last year and with the league full of inconsistent teams there will be times when stringing together a run of wins will see our position improve massively. As long as we're there or there abouts (as we are now) come the second half of the season we'll have a great chance of making the top four because Hughes teams always finish strongly.

Fair play Pig 606, i have to be honest and say my glass feels half empty right now, but yours is brimming over and fizzing out bubbly all over the place.

And i cant knock that mate.

I agree with all of this, the thing is it goes on and on. Last season he made strange decisions and subs and this season its carried on, but with better players because of the money we've got to spend. We'll improve our league position because of the players we've brought in, but what I and probably many others don't want is to look back on this season and think there was a big opportunity missed, exactly like last season. Its a work in progress but Harry took a team from bottom 3 to above is in the league in a shorter time and less money, Roy Hodgson has improved Fulham dramatically with probably less money than we've spent on Lescott. Basic organisation is sadly lacking in our play and holding us back.

Good post mate, We're still in touch and yes we've had a poor spell recently. But, Our team is like a bunch of strangers compared to the rest of the top teams, we've had some disappointing results recently but we've got alot of quality in this team, some great players coming back from injury and some fantastic kids on the brink of the first team. There have been some mistakes made, by management and individual players but hopefully the international break will allow Hughes some thinking time to see where we're going wrong IE playing 4-4-2, when we should be playing 4-3-3. There's no point being a bunch of drama queens about it, the season is still very much alive and kicking, I can't wait for the Liverpool game I think it comes at a great time to get us back on track.

No one will agree with the other about this. I can't speak for everyone and I have no beef with anyone who has their own views, thats what makes a forum like this, and football as a whole, interesting. I don't like the anti-Hughes brigade, not until we are doing piss poor and he loses the dressing room that is. As I say though I can't speak for everyone and I don't know any of you from Adam, and I don't know how far back your City support goes. Me, well I went to my first game in 88', I am 32 and have seen untold misery at Maine Road and at COMS too. I know people don't like the '10 years ago' arguement, but it is fact that 10 years ago we were a laughing stock and had some pretty shocking players at the club. We came through that though and now we have some genuine players who look to be able to do something. I am sure that most of the players signed will, in time, bring us success but that is they key word for me, time. My point is I have seen enough during my City days to more than appreciate what is happening now, and as it stands at this minute I am a happy blue who is sitting 6th with a game in hand and at this point n the season we are more than in the chasing pack. I believe Spurs and Villa will wilter, like last season, and that is when we will take advantage of our squad size. I would rather be in this position than watch some of the dross I have seen over the years, and some of the clubs around us, like Liverpool, appear to be there for thr taking in terms of where we all finish. Can we do it? Yes I think we will, not can. Is Sparky the man to do it? Yes I think he us at this point. Are the players good enough, which is the most important question? Yes I think they are, but whether people like it or not, 'gelling', is what is needed with a first 11 which us almost half made up of new faces. I know some of you don't agree and want it all now and expect things which we shouldn't expect yet, but that is my view on it all and I am confiudentr that come May 10', we will have finished in the top 3.

This blip in form will be a big barometer of how we do this season.

We had a great start and all my mates who support other teams have said to me that its the reaction we get when we hit a sticky patch that will decide how well the team is progreessing (and I include the backroom staff in this as well).

Stick patch is what we've hit and I agree that the team cohesion looks no existant, but we haven't lost, and city of old would have lost some of those games. Yes I agree that the lesser teams its who we have drawn against, but its still early doors.

I to was as pissed off as the next man coming away from Eastlands on Saturday but lets keep the faith lads.
