Ford to bin the Fiesta off

Had a Yellow MK 1 1100 s (couldn’t afford an XR2)) it was a T reg. Still remember the full plate too. Seized the engine on it.
Wife’s had a few recent ones. They are a decent drive.

A fuel efficient petrol car will do around 50mpg so 2 gallons of petrol per 100 miles at current prices (£6.23 per gallon) that’s £12.50 ish per 100 miles.
£6.23 per gallon. Can I order 50 litres worth off you.

It's currently around £7.40 per gallon but I get your point.

First car was a T reg 1.25 zetec, my insurance was £3500 for the year in Wythenshawe, they said it was 16v so was a sports car robbing fuckers.

That model had a problem with the passenger footwell flooding.

That’s me using a bloody online conversation thing that’s done it in US gallons rather than uk.
Local to me it’s 1.58 per litre so 7.17, but yes the principle still applies. It would need to be significantly more or electricity a lot cheaper to offset the cost

I’ve driven Fiestas for the last 30 years with one short ‘break’ of 2 months with a VW Golf which spent more time with the mechanic than on the road! The Fiesta I drive now is quite a few years old and *fingers crossed & touch wood* has barely given me any problems.

Where will I go now when I come to replace it??? :-(

Never had the Mk1, had a Mk2 950 pop plus in quartz gold metallic. Anything over 60mph was a frightening experience. Had a lovely beige interior.

About 10 years ago I used to have a 1980 Mk1 Golf GLi series 1 - basically the series 1 GTI convertible. Was finished in shit brown paint with shit brown interior. It was certainly of it’s time and in its defence it hid the rust fairly well - which I’m starting to realise was probably the whole point of them using that colour.

Here it is, Murphy it was called.

Shame you don’t still have it. Classic insurance and no road tax plus zero depreciation, in fact they are gaining value.

Absolutely mate. Was a very rare car, only sold between April 1980 and Dec 1980 - I think I got about £2k for it :(

The tin top series 1 GTis are what about £20-30k now? I have a later 1991 Mk1 Golf GTi convertible now (will sell that soon I think), just sold my 1991 Polo G40 which I really miss and also have an original 1998 Subaru classic 2000 turbo UK as I think these are going to be hell and all money in the future
