Ford to bin the Fiesta off

About 10 years ago I used to have a 1980 Mk1 Golf GLi series 1 - basically the series 1 GTI convertible. Was finished in shit brown paint with shit brown interior. It was certainly of it’s time and in its defence it hid the rust fairly well - which I’m starting to realise was probably the whole point of them using that colour.

Here it is, Murphy it was called.

That nice brown kit of Coventry’s from the 70’s would complement that nicely.

Depends if you can find a Rapid Charger local to you and are willing to pay the premium. With a 150kW charger for a small EV it would take about 18 mins.
If you get a charger installed at home about 8 hrs.
Is the problem that only single phase at home whereas quick charge needs 3 phase?

In essence yes, but even if you get a 3 phase supply, in domestic premises you can only have a 22kW unit.
Not sure about UK but here in Spain out local supermarkets allow their electric charging bays 1 hour free charging for customers, do Asda etc do a similar thing?

Light industrial sites you can get anything up to 300kW chargers (150kW being the most powerful currently in use), assuming that the local DNO can support them.

In those locations it just depends on how heavily loaded the local 11kV substations are.

I’m surprised Ford are still going. Yiu don’t see many nowadays. Every other car was a Ford when I was growing up.

Gone from 30 per cent market share in the 1980s to just over 7 per cent now…. Moving all vehicle production out of the UK probably the major reason - people used to see Ford as a British Brand - despite it’s US heritage/ownership.

Yeah - the default van was a Tranny - built in Southampton then they moved production to Turkey and FIAT/Peugeot/Citroen/Mercedes etc just gobbled up their market. Same with small vans - the go to was an Escort Van - stopped making that and similar makers moved in. Same when Vauxhall dropped the Astramax mind you - the Bedford Midi was never a Transit challenger
