Forget Recriminations, how do we sort this mess out?

We're halfway through our most successful (at least so far) season in decades and yet there are still a vocal few out there - a mix of grumbleweeds & rag infiltrators - who come on the forum to be as outlandishly pessimistic as possible.
Does anyone else find it strange that so many of us knock the press for their knee jerk headline exaggerations yet we seem to remain happy to hype up the gloom ourselves on Blue Moon.

Sorry that my posting isn't as spectacular as 'lets all get critical about the manager' but I just thought I'd voice the view I have because the Blues I've known in supporting this club for the last 45+ years have always been known for being true fans (fanatics) who show mature patience and stick with their team through thick and thin.

I think that most of us still do(hear us singing for Mancini tomorrow) and that it's just a vocal minority comprised of those who feel let down because they've allowed their aspirations to race ahead of reality . . plus a few rag snipers pleased to come in here and stir up disenchantment for their perverse pleasure.

I'm being very presumptuous there of course. But money talks. And isn't he pals with the sheikh ?

Maybe the deal was always that he would step aside for Jose? Because it isn't the first time it's been on the cards

Whose cards?

I cannot seem to find ANY reference to HH SM or the City board having ever said that.

Maybe there are too many cards in play that have nothing to do with the game at the top table?

Be fair here fb, you of all posters knows how it works.

You get lots of info on things as well, just because you might not have heard certain things, doesn't mean others haven't either.

Yeah I do know how this works but I get a very real sense that 'the cards' we are referring to have nothing to do with City, City's board or the people in Abu Dhabi.

No problems bud.

Apologies if my posts are coming over in a confrontational way as well, not meant to in any way shape or form.

I'm sorry mate, but there is no way Mancini would ever have agreed to such a deal.

He was shafted at Inter, after just having signed a new 4 year deal at the Club, as soon as they got wind of the fact that they could get Mourinho. This was a real slap in the face for him. History has shown they were right to do so, but Mancini's reputation took a serious knock from the whole episode.

He went from being one of the best young Managers in the game to a poor man's Mourinho. The very top jobs were no longer available to him. I mean - he's admitted to having considered joining Sven at Notts County. He struck lucky joining us, but even the most rose tinted of City fans would surely agree that back then we weren't right at the top table - we still aren't now, but our reputation is growing for sure.

There is no way that Mancini would then agree to come to us, and then willingly step aside for the very man whose appointment caused this dent to his reputation. He would be shown up in the footballing world to be Mourinho's lackey on two seperate occasions so early in his career. The damage to his reputation would be almost irreperable, and a man with Mancini's pride and ego would not willingly allow that to happen to him.

I should also add that it isn't our job to 'sort this 3rd place in the PL and still in 2 cups mess' out . . . that's the managers job and all the backbiting and sniping in the world (which is sure to be from those on here with more top level football management experience and success than RM?) can only do little else than have no effect or possibly a negative effect.

I don't like to think I'm the only one on Blue Moon who takes pride in supporting the club rather than knocking it at every opportunity but it sometimes looks that way what with the high incidence of negative threads and comment. Not saying that the negative views shouldn't have a voice but there's surely room for a bit more of a reasoned and patient perspective?

Anyone else out there?

Our form has dipped alarmingly since Christmas. We're conceding goals. Teams have worked out how to play us. We're not winning enough. Our confidence has dipped alarmingly.

Forget about recriminations, what do we do right now to sort it out?

I think it's time for radical action because this season is far from over.

Joe Hart is going to have to be taken out the firing line and be replaced with Shay Given. He's cost us too many goals. He's a great keeper but his confidence is shot to bits. Get him in the reserves and let him get back to where he was.

Never ever pick Jo or Vieira again. It is unbelieveable to me that either of these two are even in our squad. Surely the manager has to admit this mistake and get them out of the firing line.

Look at the formation. The 4-2-3-1 isn't working well enough. We're too narrow and aren't getting enough balls into the box. The problem is we haven't got the wide men to go 4-4-2. However I think we should look hard at it and build our bridges with SWP. Silva's good enough to play wide left drifting in, with Kolorov overlapping.

Work incessantly defending setpieces. Bring back Lescott to partner Kompany.

Work at attacking setpieces. Lescott also adds to this.

DO what it takes off the field to bring some unity and confidence back to the camp. Have a "let's have it out" session. Do some bonding work. Get them fired up again. MAybe going all out to thump Sunderland will do some good.

Also, I think the Sheikh needs to be having a few strictly off the record discussions behind the scenes with a few people who are otherwise engaged. Purely as a precaution of course.

I think you are spot on, on all fronts.

All those saying go for Mourinho are clueless.

There is no guarentee that he will being instant success. Look at Madrid and how he's coping there and even if he did birng us success... He'd give us what? maybe a premier league title?... Maybe? and then what?... he'd move onto his next job as Portugal manager or something of the sort.

Look how he's left Inter after winning the treble there. Mourinho is somewhat a "quick-fix" he wont be here long haul and could leave us in the shit.

Saying all this is pointless anyway, as he'd never come here.

... And Mancini shouldn't be sacked... Even if he did fail top 4.
