Forget the doom and gloom.

When people talk about "expectation" they are correct, but it does very much depend what your expectations are, of course.

Me? I expect us, each season, to be challenging for the title, finishing top four - thereby playing in the Champions League and winning a cup every other year, perhaps.

Anyone expecting more than that is going to find their enjoyment being diminished more often than it need be. united under Ferguson were a freakish manifestation. No team will dominate like that again, especially with FFP's looming presence. Anyone expecting perpetual success for City along the same lines as united is not going to enjoy the next few years very much imo.

I'm grateful for what we do have. It's certainly enough for me.

So everyone should be happy with every performance or non-performance that the team puts in because we used to be shit?

At some point, we have to put this mentality behind us because it's what drives the top teams on. We'll never knock Barcelona out of the Champions League if we're merely grateful of being on the same pitch as them.

Spot on!

There are too many fans on here it seems, who are just thankful we're not as shit as we used to be and are now satisfied with that alone, if we win any more trophies after the title, then they are just added bonuses.

That isn't good enough, we should be demanding the best of our players, that they should fulfil their potential as a legendary team in City's record books.

That's fair enough, but it shouldn't define the narrative for the season as much as some are letting it.

Forget the football/team/manager for a couple of hours, get out in the garden and either get some weeding done or sit and enjoy the sun with a bottle/can of something.

It's a lovely day, sun shining and Bank Holiday weekend. Have a great Easter everyone.

The business end of the season is all about getting points on the board, doesn't matter how we do it, we coud get outplayed for 90mins for the next few games but win 1-0 and that'll do nicely, some fans want us to pass teams to death and score 5 and 6 goals every game.
Ain't going to happen, the tail end of the season is all about winning ugly and getting points by hook or crook.
And to the OP, great post about being positive but a lot of people on here don't acknowledge what went on In 98, a lot of posters didn't know what went on in 98 and a lot of posters on here didn't support us in 98.
My glass is half full.

At last a voice of reason

Along the way we are going to have some bad games all teams do, and most reasonable people expect that
