Forget the doom and gloom.

Gloom: Temporary. And understandable. The dream of winning the league title which was very achievable died in the space of 4 days

But Doom? Next week work begins again on City's new stand. It wont be long before you're sat with 62,000 City fans cheering on another assault on the League title.

We won the League Cup and nearly went the distance in 4 competitions just falling at the last. Was only a few months ago that some people talked about a quadruple. It was never realistic, but a team that is talked of in those terms isn't going to disappear. Pellegrini and the players wont need 2 months to work their game out, and surely we can't have another season of injuries like we have had this season (actually in World Cup year we probably can - that's the only thing that can stop us).

Sign one defender in the Summer, and maybe some attacking cover in midfield where the squad is short and we'll be challenging for everything again.

Lucky you're blue. And thank God that the previous generation of City fans had the spine to stick by their team and really show you all what being a supporter is all about.

I think nearly went the distance in the CL and FA cup is stretching it a bit especially the CL

Time for some perspective. A lot of upset Manchester City fans around at the minute it would seem. Cast back to 1998 a once proud club that had achieved some milestones in football found itself playing in the third tier of English Football for the first time ever (I know as I was there). It seemed like a sickening final blow after the nightmares of the 1980's. Fast track to the present day. In the last few years we have won the FA Cup, Premiership Title, Charity Shield, been runners up in the Premiership and FA Cup again and have recently won the League Cup. Further more constructing an academy that could be envied in world football. Time to reign in the negativity and look over the gloom.

I watched the 99 Play Off last night....City Fans singing "We love you City" at 2 - 0 down....I couLdnt imagine us doing that nowadays.......some walking out when Sunderland got their second........won all domestic trophies in 3 years, awesome, never thought I would see the day.

At last a voice of reason

Along the way we are going to have some bad games all teams do, and most reasonable people expect that
For the ridiculous amount of money invested in this team, winning a cup every other year is a realistic expectation? I'd say that would me a major underachievement - and with the '5 trophies in 5 years' quote, the boss thinks the same.

Did we buy the best players in the world for every position in the team?? If we did I would say we are underachieving, u sound a bit like the rag tops in ur statement it's something they would come out with "they have spent loads of money so should win everything" I think the club said "at least" 5 trophies in 5 years, whereas I would love city to win 15 in 5 years, it's not gonna fuckin happen, the club is being realistic the fans should be too...

We haven't bought the best player in every position. Norbwill we be able to buy try world stars (FFP considered) unless we can balance the squad with a few home grown players in the years to come.

Fernandinho may the only first choice signing that we have made in the last two years. As well know,!we weren't able to sign Thiago Silva, Cavani, Alexis Sanchez, RVP, Edin Hazard, Isco, DDR etc.

We are doing OK but have slightly underachieved this season. This doesn't mean that I am not gutted we aren't top of the league.

The disappointment is always gonna be greater when you were in with a shout of winning summat and don't! The days of aiming for 40pts and survival didn't come with a load of built in disappointment. The only disappointments came in being knocked out of the two cups! We were the last team this season to be in with a shout of a quadruple - that is loaded with potential disappointment, and so it has been. It's not so long ago when I could look at the next six fixtures and think WhereTF are any points coming from. I'll settle for what we have now and accommodate any disappointments that come with any result.

A few years ago I was totally reconciled to the fact that I'd never see City win the league again like they did when I was a boy at junior school in the 1960s. I'd reached the stage where just being in the top flight was enough to keep me happy.

But that doesn't mean I should like underachievement now City have miraculously become mega-rich.

Media have a big part to play in all this negativity. First they build us up, then knock us down. Robbie Savage was doing it on Football Focus today. Banging on about how we was on for The Quad a few weeks ago and now we'll only end up with the League Cup. Portraying it as some sort of huge failure. His agenda is driven by his friendship with Mancini, but it's tiresome.

It seems were the only team at the start of every season who can win "The Quad". Nobody has ever spoke about Chelsea, Utd, Arsenal, Liverpool winning the four trophies. Which is hardly surprising as no one English team has ever won a domestic treble, let alone the European Cup on top. Domestic doubles are not too common either.

Realistically we're still a way off Bayern, Real & Barca, although the gap is definitely closing. Domestically the nature of the Premier League means we're never gonna sweep everyone aside over 38 games. The two debacles against Wigan aside, we've done pretty well in cup competitions recently.

We've got a manager who's new to the English game who hasn't been afforded the "transitional period" like his counterpart across the City. Despite Moyes managing in this country for 15 years.

If we don't win the league, I mark us as 7/10. If we win the league it's 8.5/10.
