Formula 1 2022

Minor breach. Give them a reprimand and move on. Credit to RBR for not trying to hide anything and being upfront.

Unlike Merc with their secret engine modes, burning extra oil, illegally cooling air into the engine last year, the illegal rear wing with the score marks last year, their DAS 2.0 last year, barking orders at race control to influence the result. All cheating but never punished.

$2 million is what it cost for a new chassis and new engine after the cynical foul committed against Max at Silverstone. Toto even predicted it before the race.

Merc is to blame for RBR's minor breach.

Not to mention Bottas took both RBR's out in Hungary. Adding to the repair bill.

$2 million wouldn't have stopped Merc going for that daft no sidepods concept, and $2 million wouldn't have stopped all of Leclerc's silly mistakes and Ferrari's silly strategy errors all year.

Hopefully they can stay completely within the cap next year, but these things happen and $2 million doesn't really make any difference. RBR has always been the third biggest spending team but always had a better chassis than Merc or Ferrari, so money isn't everything.

Evening Mr Horner lol

Mercedes and Ferrari will not stand by and allow the FAI/Liberty to fudge the punishment for the overspend and rightly so.

Red Bull have cheated. Thanks to that cheating they have developed a car, beyond their rivals and won both the Drivers championships and constructors.

This will end up in the courts and both Mercedes and Ferrari will threaten the sport with their withdrawal imo.
Toto will be regretting not going to court after last season's farce. He trusted the powers that be would make sure they wouldn't fuck up again.

These additional rules that confused the life out of everyone on Sunday and meant nobody knew whether Max had won the championship or not were written by…Michael Masi!

Just listening to the WTF1 podcast now and they’re going through it all. Masi still trolling everyone!

Do you write for the Liverpool Echo?

Do you know that saying that less is more. Maybe even zero would have been better.

There has definitely been some different interpretation from RB and FIA regarding what was applicable to the cap.
RB used one of the top 4 accountant companies in the world so they MUST have thought they were in the rules regarding the cap as they can't very well ask a 3rd party to cover spending up.

Needs to be judged. If RB is wrong they need a punishment based on the circumstances. The more grey the area is it's only fair to lessen to lessen the punishment. The more black or white the harder the punishment would need to be. As far as I'm concerned nobody here has any idea of the specifics so I don't really value all the internet accountancy 'there is no grey area' hero's.

I do not like the term 'cheating'. They delivered open books and they did not try to hide anything.
Fraud (keeping things willingly out of the books) would be cheating and for me would justify all WCC points stripped including all financial consequences.

Christian Horner himself stated that they’d not gone over the cap and that they’d submitted accounts within the limits, yet they failed:

Speaking to Sky Sports, Horner responds to the news. "Not aware of any breaches. The accounts were submitted in March, a long process with the FIA and we are in that process as we speak. Mid-next week is when they declare the certificates. Our submission was below the cap. It's down to the FIA to follow the process," the Red Bull team boss begins.

Yeah they saved the cheating for race days and whatever they did to Masi last year.
Stinking cheats.
