Formula 1 2022

Great shout.

'It will be a night race and will be held on a Saturday. The eight-hour time difference will mean it is broadcast early on Sunday morning in Europe.'

Cars will also stop every 3 mins for a 30 second ad break brought to you by sponsors.

This has to go in the conspiracy thread.
It’s priceless!
Not really a conspiracy theory at all. It's no secret that Hamilton isn't particularly well received in the US, and that manufactured rivalries seem to go down well there. Now we have a third GP announced in the USA which would be 15% of the races if it's kept at 20 races a season.

I must be watching different races. Every time there's a race in North America he seems to have massive support.

New York Street circuit 2027?

Maybe go back to Indianapolis, or do both at the expense of a "Traditional" European venue?

India, China could throw the money at it to race a couple more in years to come as well.

Not sure why they don't consider using one of the NASCAR oval tracks.

Always amazes me how mega some of the crashes in NASCAR are. Yes, they're travelling at a fair lick. But the vast majority of the tracks are basically bowls with very gentle curves, no hairpins or chicanes. So, unless they're clipped by another driver, people with their standard of driving skills shouldn't really lose control of their car.

People must surely follow it to see the accidents, because it must be the most visually boring motor sport there is.

That would be amazing. Oval racing is totally different to anything currently on the calendar so the whole event would be a massive unknown.

But there's a load of technical issues that would mean it could never happen with the current cars. Like for example you can't use the 'halo' head protection on an oval because it just blocks the drivers view as they're going through the long banked turns.

I think it's probably one of the better series. The cars are fast, race in extreme proximity at the ovals, the cars slide around the circuits etc.

And then sound wise the cars are probably some of the best in Motorsport with that massive naturally aspirated V8.

Something like touring cars or GT4 is more visually boring to me. Slower and more sophisticated so you don't see the cars moving about as much.
