Formula 1 2022

Just to reiterate my position; this season Max has been conducting himself like a true champion and an ambassador of the sport, his driving has been exemplary and he deserves all the plaudits that come his way.

Last season was an anomalous clusterfuck dictated by who knows exactly what, (although it probably doesn't take a genius to work it out) and I hope that lessons have been learned and the sport improves as a result.

That said, it was a more exciting season last year, just a pity that it wasn't really decided on the track and given that this is motor racing, that is a shame.

It was. But too many on here can’t give it a rest and reflect their continuing frustration on RB and Verstappen (and orange fans).

Whatever. I had this conversation too many times. If people on here wanna drown in their F1 bitterness it’s their problem. Not mine.
I enjoy racing. And apparently a fellow Dutchman is proving too good for any F1 driver this season.

We can all agree max has pissed this season. Be it through others failings or favours. It would be nice to see another team and driver give him a run next year.
I don't think that it is others failings or favours that have led to him driving like a champion mat.

I would far rather see Lewis at the top of the tree, at least to get that eighth title that he ought to have had last season, but credit where it's due.

Having said that Mercedes have been woeful with their car development compared to seasons past and Ferrari have been beyond comical so maybe you do have a point, but you can only beat what's in front of you.

As to next year, one would hope that teams have got to grips with new regs and there is closer racing.

I am not drowning in bitterness.

As a Dutchman you should rightly be thrilled by your fellow countryman's success. However as someone who enjoys racing I imagine that you would understand the asterisk by last seasons title win as the end result was not about racing, but in your heart of hearts you know that.

Max is the new generational talent and I am sure he will go on to enjoy many well deserved victories and I would like to see his new found maturity properly put to the test as I reckon he will rise to the challenge.

F1 does seem to have a habit of having long periods of dominance by one team/driver so a bit of toing and froing would be good for the sport. Meanwhile I have been enjoying his dominance this season. As I say, well deserved.

Sorry, I should have added that the orange army is an amazing spectacle and should be applauded.

Wasn’t talking about you. The suspects clearly shown themselves on here. Again it’s their problem.

I better stick to City on here and enjoy F1 with people that actually like racing.

Thankyou, I don't subscribe to the notion of anybody cheating, (although Horner doth protest too much at points for my personal taste).

It should. Aside the twats that can’t behave properly. And unfortunately there are quite a few in my country that visit for the wrong reasons instead of watching Verstappen and F1.

At the time I said both Horner and Wolff should shut it and let the drivers do the talking on the racecourse. Both behaved like spoilt brats. But again, I’ve commented last years event too often. It’s way in the past.

There are some who are still very angry but I’m not one of them. I was more disappointed but it wasn’t totally unexpected. Over the last few seasons you could see how things were changing to keep the races closer and last season was the culmination of that.

After watching the sport for so long, one tends not to put their hat on one driver and tends more to looking to where the challenge is coming from. Hopefully we’ll see that challenge soon otherwise we get a sport where all the ‘luck’ falls to one team, again.

It's too bad Ferrari squandered their chances in the first half of the season when they were able to compete with Red Bull. Things could have at least been more interesting. Their race pace following the summer break has been very poor.

Riccardo and Russell at Mercedes?

Just a feeling. Hamilton won't accept another shit (in his mind) car next season.

Just out of interest, as I know a few on here have been in previous years, did anyone else endure the pure shitshow that was trying to buy tickets for the British Grand Prix this week?

Zero chance. Hamilton wants his record breaking title. Ricciardo is nowhere near good enough for Mercedes. And surely to god if there’s even a sniff of Hamilton moving on, Leclerc would be desperate to do anything in his power to fuck the Italian clown show off and move to a proper team?

Anyone know how long he’s got left on his Ferrari contract?

Ricciardo doing a year as a backup driver with Merc before seeing what opens up in a midfield team the year after, that I could maybe see happening. He’s too good/egotistical/expensive to stink the place out at a Williams or a Haas IMO.

With the championship virtually wrapped up, silly season on F1 driver moves will be at maximum levels to keep interest up.

Either 2025 or 2026. The sources differ.
