They changed the rules so that not completing the entire race distance means you get maximum points, yet they still keep the 75% points accrued rule for the other races? Why was Suzuka different?Utter ignorance.
The rules were changed last year.
This is nothing to do with Max, before you start, worthy champion this year, this is a critique of the FIA and their seemingly "flexible" rules.

But the race distance changed as a result of the crash, and wasn't the agreed upon distance at the start of the race. FIA has just gone "Ahh fuck it". As a Max fan wouldn't you have rather he won it next race, which was a foregone conclusion rather than win it THIS way with the FIA adding all this pointless speculation? It's not a great way of winning it, is it.
