Formula 1 2022

Impressive how Verstappen made up the lost time when changing tires. He simply is a class act. He must love his overspent car.

RB constructors title as well. Great tribute to the late Mateschitz.

It was to be expected really. Much faster car in all ways and on better tyres. Still he got the job done so well done to Max.

And it is a good tribute to Mateschitz as you say. I don't think many people truly believed a drinks company could achieve the success they have.

Yep. In an ideal world, you'd have a championship where all the drivers drove identical cars. But let's be honest here, that's never going to happen. Too many vested interests. Those cars are mobile billboards.

No way I hope that never happens. You can watch Indycar, Formula 2, Formula 3 etc if you want to see a spec formula.

F1 is not just about the drivers it's in some ways the ultimate team sport.

Drivers, race tacticians, pitcrew, engine designers, aerodynamic engineers, suspension engineers etc. They all combine to create the best combination possible. To make it a drivers only championship would rob Formula One of its very essence.

Nothing to play for now.

Early testing of parts for next year starts at Mexico

Quite enjoyed that. Obvious that RB, who have been given all the advantage, turned it on, but there was an element of danger, as we see in drama series.

Just realising, this probably isn’t for me, more to do with the new fan.

Why would you want equal cars?

That's not what Formula 1 is all about, part of the appeal is the technology and design that goes into those cars.

Drown in your bitterness. And better stick to City. F1 is not for you.
As for sexists and racists, unfortunately you have these one braincell persons in every country. So grow up unless you are 12 or enjoy acting like one.
I've been watching F1 since the late 60s sunshine, so take your patronising tone elsewhere.

Seriously? Make it more about the drivers, rather than the cars.
In essence the Drivers aren't really what F1 has ever been about. It's always been about the whole package; the design of the car, the effectiveness of the team and engineers, the tactics and skill of the drivers and crew. The driver reaps the rewards and praise, ultimately, but the whole season isn't just about the 'driver', which is why they have two and a Constructors Championship.

I don't like watching F1 to determine who the best driver is, I also want to see which is the better car, which innovations have made the bigger impacts. The Americanisation of the sport has dimmed this a little, which is why quite a number of people are saying the sport has become more boring in recent years. Think Le Mans and Endurance racing; that race is wholly about the winning team, not the winning driver/s.

I would add the Constructers title is of far greater importance than the drivers title.

Agreed. Drivers don't win championships on their own. The hard work and dedication of the engineers and mechanics build a championship winning car and they deserve equal recognition, hence the Constructors. Just look at this years Ferrari. A genuine championship winning car, yet beset by issues regarding their own crew chief, bizarre, race losing tactics and some mistakes by Leclerc and Sainz (and genuine misfortune)
