Foy - just a bad referee

he made so many errors on suday it was unbelievable

just a few that spring to mind (ignoring the obvious)

1. failing to penalise evra/giggs/carrick for persistant fouling
2. failing toa ward utd a penalty at 1-3 against kolarov - personally i think he completely bottled it
3. booking wellbeck for his first foul, wasnt a bad foul, just felt he had to book someone to get the crowd back on his side
4. failing to award us a penalty late on in the game
5. 3 mins of stoppage time was a joke!

all in all i thought he had a shocking game, hopefully he'll get demoted to the championship for a while and kompany will get his red card overturned...cant see it happening tho

Two games this season: QPR V Chelsea. Chelsea with 10 men denied two penalties at 1-0 down. Missed them both.

Stoke V Spurs. Well need i say more, how much was missed.

Two big games, both refereed by Foy. The fact is the game was always going to be too big for him. It had to be Webb or Clattenburg.

Even Mike Dean has stepped up this season.

You say "even Mike Dean" but I reckon he has probably been the best of the lot for 2-3 years now. Imo at the moment, Attwell, Foy, Walton and Clattenburg are the worst of the lot and I genuinely fear getting them. Foy seems to be having a really bad season and Attwell is just a disaster. Most of the others are ok although they will all inevitably make mistakes.

But that's one of the ways that refs can subtly influence games. Poll did it brilliantly a few seasons ago when Arsenal were in danger of falling out the top 4 and came to us for their penultimate game. Anyone who was there will remember that performance. Nothing blatant like dodgy penalties and red cards but three times (at least) we had a killer advantage and he pulled us back for the free-kick.

Attwell against Wolves - gave them loads of free-kicks to break the game up. It's easy to say "bad ref" because people don't want to accept that they might be working to an agenda and won't ever challenge it. Why are the authorities so against video technology? That would help refs if you take the "they just make mistakes" view. But actually it would remove the element of bias they can bring to games.

You contradict yourself though. You say that refs have favoured arsenal because they were in danger of going out the top 4. Then you say the ref favoured Wolves over us despite being a now established top 4 team and Sky's current darlings (on live more than any other team). Explain that. You think that refs favour top 4 teams or you think all refs are against us?
I've not contradicted anything. Arsenal weren't going to be allowed to fall out of the top 4 at that point (Liverpool have also benefitted) whereas the PL want us held back as much as they can so we don't run away with it. Both of these they believe helps their product.

So why havent they prevented other teams running away with it in the past?

to be fair it was tactical genius by fergie resting howard webb and playing chris foy-payed dividends on the field

i completely disagree with you pb!

while it makes business sense to create a 'product' that will generate more income (ie not a 1 horse race) i just dont see how (in my opinion) a series of refereeing mistakes (that are affecting every team in the league, not just us) constitutes some sort of 'agenda' from the PL (or whoever)
