Francis Lee

5 foot nothing Franny Lee goes toe to toe with Norman Hunter - got a few decent ones in!!

Brilliant - get in Franny! Not 100% sure what he is like as a bloke - maybe could be perceived as a bit arrogant maybe and he had a well publicised fall out with Colin Bell but he is a City legend and not nice to see that he is not looking well. Time waits for no man! Hope he has many more years in him watching the Blues.

The modern player that Franny is closest to in style is Tevez, in my view. Very clever and skilled with his feet, but also a bull-like player who could steam through opposition penalty areas. Healthy ego, too. No doubts about his own ability.
And just for fun, because it is always worth re-posting as the iconic photo of him:

I've sometimes thought that the appropriate headline for this is: "Winning the league gives Franny a stiffy.” I know how you feel, sir — I do know it.

Good post, granny lee ( lee one pen) was a scoring machine for the city side which won the league and cups during sixties and seventies.anything which happened relating to administration is nothing to do wi5h what a fabulous player he was, skill, power , heart and soul, Franny lee was a legend too.

Not a chance Kinky was good enough for the top table of football. Technically very good on the ball, but not a team player. His career shows that too.
What is not known though is would he have been more of a team player if coached better at youth level which is better organised in this day and age. A player with natural skill but poor team attitude can have that side addressed to some degree. A straight swap in as-is, I probably agree.

Me dad's favourite player and I'm named after him tho if my hazy memory serves me well the first time I saw him live was when he scored the winner against us for Derby in late 74, pretty sure that was also my first game watching City live I'd have been 5 years old.

Technically a superb player but expected everyone else to do all the work and get him the ball for him to produce his magic. Quickly realised he was the most talented player in the team but didn't show the necessary application often enough. Went to Ajax and Derby and was never heard of again. Left some great memories of '95-96 though and for one season was exceptional.
Biggest waste of pure natural talent I’ve ever seen. In his defence though you could get absolutely clobbered then without a red card and he get targeted every week playing with mostly clowns. Would have been great to see him in this era.

Not at all, the most naturally talented player maybe the club has ever had, but one mard ass and lazy runt.

A total waste of talent, he should be talked about in the same breath as Ronaldo and Messi, but outside Manchester is unknown.
Totally agree without. I absolutely loved him but the biggest waste of God given talent I’ve ever seen. Different era and no doubt this one would have suited him much better but maybe he just lacked the determination to fulfil his outrageous potential.

Just watched these highlights. I think Franny would get in Pep's team, his passing and crossing is superb

love it after he scored his pen (having clearly dived) and hes trotting back, someone clearly says something and he just stares. Hard as fook.
Love reminding leeds fans about franny putting norman ‘fucking’ hunter on his arse

I just wished to add that though I started the post about Franny, there are other legends who I grew up with like Alan Oakes, Neil Young, Mike Doyle..some of us are old enough to remember them..I just feel that people who have recently supported City, may not know about these guys, and frankly they should..do not want our club to become like the rags..expecting trophies, expecting success when in effect, we in living memory have had two recent peaks..around 1970 and the last few years..footy is cyclical and we will have a downturn at some point..but most of the old guys who experienced shit weekends after losing reguarly will know what I mean..we will still be there with our zimmer frames shit or bust..just hope the new guys coming in understand the history and will still be there..I have taught my two sons and they understand.City are in your genes and as the song says, my father said to me one day is it red or is it Blue..frankly never a discussion in my house. No options, only Blue.
