Watched the game back after I got back from Cardiff. He did not pull out of any tackles, so please explain yourself!
He is a hard worker but we shouldn't expect to get that kind of (Fernesque) physicality out of him. He's quality in midfield and should not be looked to as cover at DM as any attempts will inevitably result in injury.

We are literally one Fernandinho injury away from our season going tits up. We’d still probably win the league and a great chance at the league cup but don’t think we’d stand a good chance in the other two without Dinho.
We are(so far) coping well enough without Mendy Jesus Kompany and Delph, now we have Sane crocked. I think we'll both ok for the title and the league cup, possible FA cup too. Champions league is obviously the Biggie, but you never know.

We have a great work ethic and fantastic team spirit, and the players coming in to cover injuries have done well I think.

If we now have Stones, Otamendi and Laporte (and possibly even Kompany) to cover CB, I'd give Stones a go in the Fernandinho role when he needs a rest. Assuming we aren't getting Fred this window.
Good shout for Stones as DM cover. I think he'd do well there.

PEP would not rule out more business but 95 percent sure no more incomings My bet is the only business being done tommorow night will be on the pitch ( hopefully)

Yes, looks like Mahrez is the only possibility now. And that won't be easy even though Tolmie says he is trying to get Leicester to let him come. So can understand the pessimism.

Barring a sudden change of mind by Shaktar Fred is going to have to wait by the looks of it.

Time all but out for anyone not easily at hand which Fred isn't.

Besides that he can't stay fit, hasn't played in the midfield in how many years, and doesn't have anything even resembling Fernandinho's pace or athleticism at this point in his career?

You do realize the context of this discussion is 3-5 games between now and May against weak opposition to give Fern a rest for big CL games. I assume you also thought that Zinchenko and Delph couldn't play LB?

Why wouldn't we just play an actual midfielder there instead, like Gundogan? As for Zinchenko and Delph you can go read my posts in their respective threads.

It is also believed that City will try until the deadline to sign Fred from Shakhtar. City had initially been willing to strike a deal this month but wait until the summer the bring in the 24-year-old, but since changing their transfer strategy they have been pushing to recruit him before Wednesday's deadline.

Shakhtar are determined not to let him go now, however, and City will have to break that resolve if they are to get their way.
