I would if I knew what the fuck Fernando had to do with me saying Fred is not the same kind of player as Fernadinho. He isn't.

In fact Ndzonzi is more like Fernandinho than Fred is.

The reason for me making that comment, if you actually watch what Fern does in CITY'S team, that's CITY (clue: not Barca or Bayern but CITY) will give you an idea , as to why Pep doesn't play David or Bernardo Silva in that position.

And Gundgan today btw, playing next to Fern, made Fernando look like fucking Xavi.
I tend to agree with you. Fred isn't strong enough unlike Ferna. Even if we don't mention his aerial (in)ability, he doesn't seem to be suited for DM role, looks more like a deep-lying midfielder of Modric/Gundogan/Naby Keita type.
I think it would be logical to replace Gundo with Fred and add a pivot of 'controlling' type like Weigl or Jorginho (do you agree that Weigl/Jorginho-Silva/Fred-KdB combination would suit City?). Very difficult to imagine Fred-Silva-KdB trio working well.

No. You made a comment that City need a tackler in that position. We don’t. You made a comment that Fernandinho and Fernando are similar. They’re not. I’ve given you reasons and examples why, but it’s seemingly gone over your head, so you carry on. Ignorance is bliss for some I guess.

No I didn't. I made the comment that we need someone like Fernandinho or otherwise we will have to change drastically the way we play & that Ndzonzi is actually more like Fern than Fred is.

There is a great big obvious fucking reason I'm making that comment & the fact your one dimensional, think inside the box opinion doesn't allow for it, makes you assume for some reason, that people don't know how City play.

Pep doesn't live inside a fucking box, he does what's needed, hence we broke Arsenal with a 70 yard punt down the pitch.

Some people read a couple of books on Pep & think it's his fucking bible.

Mate, you’re tying yourself up in knots here. You said Fernandinho was a “better version of Fernando”. He isn’t. They’re completely different players. A Fernando or an Nzonzi aren’t good enough to play for City in that role.

Books or no books, it’s based on watching Guardiola’s teams and observing how they play. Guardiola played in that position himself, he knows what’s required mate.

You can long for the days of a DeJong tough tackling pitbull in midfield if you want, good luck to you. But as long as Guardiola is City manager we will never have one in our midfield. You can either learn to accept and understand that, or get angry and frustrated and wish things were different. Your choice.

Actually i think pep is trying to change the way we play. Fernandinho may be suitable for the PL but when it comes to the CL i think he is a weakness, thats where Fred comes in.

I don't know if I read it wrong, as I was caught up by cup final excitement, but it appeared to me that Pep had us lined up more like the old Mancini system with Gundo (supposedly) playing next to Fern (inasmuch as that could happen in a Pep fluid team) but Gundo was making a complete arse of everything & actually getting in Fernandinho's way.

But if he sees that as a viable system in this league, then maybe Fred plus Fern or A.N Other is possibly on the cards for games where he thinks we will get harassed in the centre, rather than Fred being a Fern replacement.

I found it interesting that the first thing he did, when Fern went off, was to talk very strongly to Stones & get him warmed up, even when Silva was getting changed.

I think that was preperation for an instant change, if we started to get overrun when Bernardo came on. Maybe 3 at the back or maybe Stones or Kompany in midfield. As it happened, we dicked them so it wasn't needed.

But in answer to your question I think it's very difficult to predict Pep. Some think this City team is a replica of Barca but of course it isn't, it's Pep's Premier League team.

Weigel keeps getting mentioned & am happy for someone such as yourself to convince me, but I don't 'get' him.

You are again completely missing my point & indeed good luck to Pep battling for headers with Harry Kane like Fernandinho does.

He knows he couldn't do it & has said so, but you obviously know better.
