Frenkie de Jong

What has he actually produced on the pitch? I don't see the hype at all.
At Ajax, he was absolutely cooking. At Barcelona, he’s been meh. I do not want to see this guy in a City shirt. For me, he’s past it. People still obsessing over him are stuck in the past, back when he was at Ajax. Since moving to a top league, over the past five and a half years, he’s been a disappointment. He will never solve our issues—he doesn’t have the legs for it. When Rodri is out, he’d get run through just like our current midfield.

He's not past it.....he never was it!

What does he actually do on the pitch? Every new La Masia Talent seems to be better than him. Made a living by getting 600k/week or whatever it was by doing nothing special. That’s their Grealish.

He seemed to come to prominence at the same time as De Ligt. Both hugely overrated.

Depends on the price. He is a very good CM. And fits the way Pep likes to play.

He can easily be the Kovacic replacement.

So is Camara and Reijnders, who are way cheaper and would command less wages, reliable, more mobile, faster, commanding, stronger and physical.
That's why i said it depends on the cost. Id they are trying to shed him xoz their young guns are all as good or better, then he'll be cheap.

I doubt Reijners will be as cheap. He just resigned for an Italian team, expect to pay 90 mil to get him

And He is a far better Pep fit than Camara. Who i really like by the way. De jong is a young Gundogan with better passing and slightly less scoring. Hence why i said he can easily be the Kova replacement... Who was the Gundo replacement.

Camara is just a different styled player who'd be a good player if Pep is leaving and we are adjusting styles. If we are looking to reinvent peak Pep, then De Jong is a fantastic board piece.

Im gonna guess people haven't been watching Barca much this season based on the comments.

He has been their best 6 when they play against a low block, due to his ability to pick a pass, and evade pressure.

He is still good against high pressing teams, but Casado is preferred for being a little bit quicker in the tackle to recover possession.

As usual, its about the price, if it can be a reasonable fee with wages, then he can be a great asset for a Pep team.

Haven't watched him play in a while but if he's still a baller then you take him. With Rodri we will go back to total control and we would be better served with replacing gundogan/kovacic/gundogan smartly if control is going to continue to be a big component, if it isn't then look elsewhere

Barca cant afford to sell him because they cant afford his backdated wages and the lad has no intention of giving up millions and leaving. Complete non starter.
