Frenkie de Jong

Is he any better than Rodri or Gundogan?
Right now no in my opinion

I would see him as gundo long term replacement

He’s just not kicked on at Barca, he looks unbelievable in that Ajax team (but so did van de beek)

Although I do think pep and the way we dominate games could turn him into something special from what I’ve seen

I’m all for Sterling and frenkie de jong straight swap but no way should de jong come in as one of our top earners , although a top player and I think he would thrive in this team , he’s literally done fuck all since he moved to Barca .. to merit that wage if he were to sign for us !
Had Grealish done more before coming in as our second top earner? For a player his age and his potential and given that he would definitely be a protagonist, a similar wage would work. My opinion of course. I don’t think the club would be opposed either. There’s no way Pep doesn’t think highly of him; he’s one of the hardest workers in this shitty Barcelona team. It’s not about “does he merit such wages” and more what he’s worth in the market. It wouldn’t shock me if he came earning less than the 354k, but when the club pays what it’s paying Grealish, it’s already decided that FdJ would be making more (not just in our team. An example of how we influence the market)

I agree with the grealish bit mate .. because in my opinion he shouldn’t of come in as the 2nd highest earner either

I think paying grealish 300k and this lad similar sets a precedent for future transfers and future contract renewals

But txixi knows what’s he doing and is doing a great Job, we’re in good hands

I'm not getting my hopes up but he would be a dream signing for the way we play.

I can see where some fans come from when others would be happy to see a Sterling swap deal but you have to remember, it does look like he's on his way out anyway. Why not get a player who is so perfectly made for this team that it's unbelievable?

Should've come to us when he left Ajax but chose Barca instead to play with Messi and in that shirt but they're a shit show now. We're (never thought I'd say this) a step up now in terms of on the pitch and he'll likely know that.

Pep/Txiki/Soriano don't tend to go back to a player who has already rejected us (Laporte is the only one I can think of - and Messi but, that's Messi) but I'd love to see us give this a look at.

I had this lad top of my wish list when it was initially a possibility. My thinking hasn't changed,we need to start looking at the next batch, and it seems the academy wont be the answer.....so get him in.

I don't think we need him at the moment. Where does he fit in?

If he was that good would he be up for sale? Its not just because Barca need money. They probably think Gavi will be better.

How do you think Pep would manage de Jong/Rodri/Gundo? With 350+k per w salary, I couldn't see him as a rotation player.

Probably the same way he manages Silva/Kdb/Foden/Grealish/Mahrez/ Torres/Jesus oh And /Gundo higher up the pitch.

Besides Gundo isn't going to be around forever.

I don't see a huge need for him, but if the opportunity was there for a player the club tried to land before, and it meant getting a return for a player they are maybe ready to let go for the right offer, then it could be a long term move.

Don't see it myself, feels like obvious media 2+2, but it isn't that insane either. It is more logical than Ake to Newcastle in January.

I'm hoping that Sterling makes way for Haaland (or another striker)

So who makes way for DeJong? Fernandinho?

Wages are relative not only to what the player has done, but their profile, age, potential and demand. The club will know who is worth what.
