Frenkie de Jong

Barca are in financial crisis

Asking everyone every summer to lower their wages.

Just in case he was available, we should be ready for that moment
Maybe so, but I reckon they’ll try and get rid of some of the paste and semi-precious stones and keep the gems like him. If he did become available, I wouldn’t be at all surprised if Bayern Munich became an interested party as well.

We signed Rodri that summer. Hypothetical, I know, but I’m not sure we’d have been quite as successful as we have been if we’d signed de Jong that summer.

Hard to know really. His class isn’t in doubt, but I do think he pissed off our boys as they were certain he’d given his word at the time.

File next to Dani Alves I guess.

Frenkie is the perfect Pep player and would fit into the system seamlessly. And if there is any time to exploit Barcelona’s demise it is now.
With Pep and Txiki we also have enough firepower to convince Frenkie and screw Barcelona at the same time.

But I don’t think Txiki or Pep gonna do it. We don’t screw with clubs as the rags and the History clubs are used to. We go for release clauses because it is straight forward.
but this is the best time to exploit Barcelona and get some of their gems. If the clubs conditions were reversed I know they would do it and take Gundo Laporte BSilva from us.

"Barca are in financial crisis"

Amazing that a club in "crisis" can raise 1.3 billion Euros for a stadium rebuild if they are in "crisis"!

Barcelona are fucked because of the rules of LaLiga, rules that are killing a once great league.

Without coming across like a **** here - they play in La Liga so regardless of funding a €1.3b stadium, they still (seem to) need to conform to La Liga and their financial rules. Which they can’t seem to do.

They got rid of their best ever player, they’ve had to demote one of the best La Masia products in years to the youth setup because they can’t afford to offer him a contract and they’ve been bargain hunting (Alonso, they wanted Azpilicueta, Auba, Depay) for a few years aside from last Summer which was an obvious ploy of ‘we’re not fucked, honestly!’

They won’t get rid of FDJ, shame really, but apparently his wages are extortionate and they were flying him to Manchester themselves in the Summer to the rags. So a man can dream.

Barca are still a huge club, that's my point.

Their financial demise is greatly overestimated, yes they have issues but so have 95% of clubs.

They have the ability to raise 100s of millions every season in revenue, so they are hardly in crisis and with financial institutions prepared to lend them 1.3 billion they are not seemed as a 'risk'
